About this deal

The songwriting delivers a mix of the observational storytelling of Davies and Weller crossed with the harsher documentary eye of Mike Skinner of The Streets and "Ghost Town"-era Specials. Experience the iconic sound of Arctic Monkeys' debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, through the warm and immersive quality of vinyl.

and “God Smack” give Layne Staley a chance to explore a vocal arsenal that encompasses bluesy wails, unholy screams, and. The only thing I have against this album is that I don't think of it as quintessential vinyl material- there isn't a great deal of difference in the vinyl and the digital versions.Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the UK's fastest selling debut album, selling more than 360,000 copies in its first week. stars out of 5 — “Fashion and hype be damned — this is thrilling, incontrovertible evidence of a major new talent in our midst. and finally the album closer, a Certain Romance with its opening drum and guitar attack before settling into a perfect UK retro-rock dance groove with a totally different sound, and great lyrics condemning the vapidness and bad behavior of today's youth even as the singer admits he has friends who are the same. Breathless, hyperbolic praise was piled upon the Arctic Monkeys and their Bdebut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, an instant phenomenon without peer.

What I like the most is that you can train your ear to listen to any of the parts of this band - the drumming is solid (far more so than say, Franz Ferdinand), each song is driven by terrific guitars and bass that will stay in your head as long as the lyrics will. The best thing for me about this album though is its honesty and its heart- while some of the song lyrics are quite naive, some of the other tracks, especially "A Certain Romance" just go to prove that this band are really in touch with their fans. For a debut - 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' was very strong, and there was even better releases to follow.this was life in satellite-town england, as cutting and observant as anything youd hear from mike skinner.

The songs range from the good to the excellent, my favourites will always be the number one hit singles: 'When the Sun Goes Down'(I just love the melody at the beginning of it) and the throbbing indie anthem 'I Bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor', but all of the album only tracks benefit from consistent catchy guitar riffs and strong vocals. The album became the UK's fastest selling debut album, selling more than 360,000 copies in its first week in 2006. When I first heard the energy of this new band's music, and the irresistible vocals of Alex Turner, I was drawn to it immediately.
