About this deal

Kirk Hammett is known as the lead guitar player in Thrash Metal giants Metallica. Over the years his rig has changed based on the needs of the album they are touring, but it has remained mostly faithful to a few select pieces of gear. In this article we are going to look at the rig that Kirk used in 1986 for the Master of Puppets album. Pedals This yellow box of overdrive fury is one the most famous overdrive pedals out there. It’s very popular as a boost, as it’s very clean at low gain, and gives a really focused and tight boost. It’s got a different character than a tubescreamer, and it’s just as good as any other overdrive. Ibanez TS9 For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. Part of that is obviously his wah pedal. He always uses his signature wah, and usually has about five or more wah pedals scattered around the stage at a live show.

Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. As a whole, Hammett has been more than happy to laugh off trolls lately, similarly shrugging off criticism of his solos on Metallica's new album, 72 Seasons. Capturing the signature frequency sweep and full dynamic range of one of heavy metals most notorious guitarists, this Kirk Hammet Signature Wah pedal from Dunlop is bound to inspire your creativity and enhance your performances. Iconic Metallica Wah Tones His tone is not all that different from James’ (rhythm guitarist of Metallica). They use very similar sounds live, so it’s often hard to discern which side is who. In the studio he’s only heard during solos. Other rhythm’s and leads are played by James. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Kirk has been using Dunlop wah’s for his entire career. The wah sound is so associated with him that he eventually got his own signature wah pedal, the Dunlop KH95 Kirk Hammett Wah. It’s inspired by the classic Dunlop Cry Baby Wah, but has some cool graphics to make it unique. Most notably the slime green fade and boney footprint, representing Kirk’s love for classic horror movies. Kirk has used the wah on a multitude of solos, including Enter Sandman, No Remorse, Master of Puppets and Memory Remains. He uses it on almost every solo, and this what led to the ‘Kirk Wahmmett’ trend. Dunlop KH95

In an interview with Guitar World last year, Hammett discussed the relationship between the wah pedal and his solos, explaining that he doesn't use the effect to write the solos themselves. Developed in close collaboration with the man himself, Dunlop have squeezed every inch on tonal know-how from Kirks brain and produced the KH95 Signature Pedal. Meticulously tuned and tweaked to deliver the same iconic wah sound that revolutionized all of Metallica's metal solos, this pedal perfectly emulates that legendary tone that makes Kirk cut through the mix in true Metallica style. From the first album right up to today, Kirk has had a TS9 in his rig. He uses the TS9 to tighten up the front end of his guitar amps overdrive channel. This is a common use for this pedal. The TS9 does not have much gain of it’s own, but when put as a boost infront of an already overdriven amp, it gives a very tight and refined metal tone. Dunlop Crybaby Wah This wah pedal is designed after the Crybaby. Spec and sound is no different from a regular Crybaby, but it has a different kind of charm. Diehard Kirk Hammett fans will undoubtedly have this on their board, and this pedal is a great choice for players who don’t like the look of a classic Crybaby, and want to spice it up a little. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faultyKirk doesn’t use a lot of effects pedals other than wah and overdrive. His primary overdrive during the early days of Metallica was the Boss Super Overdrive. He later switched to the Ibanez TS9. Boss Super Overdrive
