About this deal

The Input & Output section of the Volca Drum is where you will connect external synths to sync together. You can also use the audio outputs to connect either headphones in or record into your DAW. Sound Controls The Volca Drum is extremely compact too and has all the features you need for playing it on the go. Headphones, built-in speakers, battery powered. Enjoy it anywhere! Features An accent function that can be specified in 16 levels You can set accents to create strong beats at specific steps, not simply as an on/off setting but in a range of 16 levels, allowing you to express a subtle sense of groove and rhythmic nuance. Saving programs: Hold the FUNCbutton, press the RECORDbutton, then select the slot where you’d like to save the program. Press the FUNCbutton again to exit it out. Despite each pattern only being a bar long, you can inject some additional interest by adjusting the probability of each step from 0 to 100 percent. You can also enable what Korg call Slices for each step. A slice is a repeated note within a step, what old-school sequencers might call a ratchet. Up to 16 slices can be added per step. Perfect for fast trills, machine gun repeats or stutter edits.

For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. Loading programs: Hold the FUNCbutton, press the PLAYbutton, then select the slot where the program is located. Press FUNCagain to exit Load Mode. The six parts each have two layers, and do not impose any rules or restrictions such as specifying which parts must be used for the bass drum or for the cymbal; all parts have the same specifications. You can freely assign your new sounds to these six parts without being limited by the conventions of a drum set. A kit consists of the six parts that you've assigned plus the waveguide resonator effect settings, and 16 such kits can be stored in memory (the factory settings contain 10 preload kits). Distinctive sound from a newly developed DSP engine The two-layer sound design offers, sine, sawtooth, noise and you can use these three waveforms to create whatever sound you want. Using the wavefolder depth to add complex overtones, and use overdrive to give your sounds more impact. The Korg Volca Drum allows you to create your own distinct sound. Rich Resonances Once you find a nice combination of layers, you can apply some simple digital effects in the form of bit-reduction, wave-folding and overdrive. Each one gives a different way to rough up your sound, and you can apply all three at once if you feel the need. The effects don't have their own front panel controls. Instead they are accessed by hitting the Edit/Step button and then using the Param encoder to select an effect, and the Value encoder to change the amount. Mixing options are also found in the same menu list with level and pan allowing you to balance the audio at the master stereo output.Using the Waveguide resonator, you can add rich resonances to your sounds. There are two types of resonator styles. The tube setting replicates the resonances of a cylindrical object. Anything from a snare housing, to a very long pipe. The strings setting gives you a much more metallic resonance. Control, the Decay, Body, or Tune of these settings and create otherworldly or idiosyncratic sounds with a twist of a knob Simple Sequencing The term "digital" typically brings to mind sounds that are based on PCM-sampled bass drum, snare drum, or cymbal, but the Volca Drum creates its drum sounds by DSP-powered analogue modelling. Oscillator waveforms such as sine wave, sawtooth wave, and noise are provided. By applying various changes to these waveforms, you can create a wide variety of percussion sounds that range from realistic to idiosyncratic, and are not limited only to drums. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offeredKorg's instruments are always beautifully designed with function in mind. The Volca Drums is no exception. The design features a clear and retro-inspired LCD screen which gives you the low down on all of your parameters. The display is bright and clear and is perfect for performing on a dark stage.

The core of the Volca Drum’s character, however, comes from its ‘Wave Guide’ resonator. This is set up as a global send effect, allow each layer to be sent to it by an independently controllable amount. The Wave Guide itself has three controls: Tune, for the pitch of the effect, Decay, controlling its length, and Body, which alters the timbral characteristics. There are two varieties of resonator available too, switchable between Tube and String styles. The results that can be achieved using this resonator sound fantastic, ranging from odd faux-reverb effects to pitched tonal stabs and spiralling, modulated decays.Once you've specified the sound, you can adjust the balance of the parts by modifying the timing at which steps are heard, the pan, the gain before mixing, and the effect sends. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty Enjoy anywhere Compact, size, battery operation, and built-in speaker mean that you can take this unit anywhere and enjoy playing on the go. Slice function finely divides a step to allow drum-rolls The step slice function lets you play drum rolls. You can use a knob to change the number of slices, and insert a detailed drum roll in the middle or at the end of a pattern to create a climax for your song or performance.

There are two ways you can record; live and step. When recording in standard mode, the steps are recorded in real-time. In step mode, you can record one step at a time without having to worry about being off time. Follow these steps to record in each mode. Live recording There's a choke function that lets you specify which of multiple parts should take priority when sounded simultaneously, such as the hi-hat closed and open sounds of a drum machine. Parts for which you've enabled the choke function will not sound simultaneously; only the one part of the lowest part number will be heard. Two randomize functions expand your inspiration However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.
