About this deal

Is running at maximum speed on a cheap treadmill dangerous? and do they have a good max speed anyway? The incline levels are targeted to increase the intensity of your workout, without applying undue pressure or stress on your joints. The large screen helps trainers analyze the efficiency of their workout; the calories monitor allows them to evaluate the reception of their body to particular activities. Similarly, the pulse rate sensor lets them determine the right set of speed and incline to push the body into the fat-burning zone. You can also connect your console to multiple fitness apps to receive the data on your phone.

With a 2HP motor, the Sprint 3 from JTX Fitness is well powered and is well above the minimum 1.5HP motors that we usually look for in a treadmill – providing it with a top speed of 16KPH. It has a mechanically controlled incline with 12 levels from 0-12% and has an 8 point suspension system which the company have aptly named Cushionstep. A full workout session on the JTX Sprint 3 will get your heart rate up, boost your metabolism, help you get in shape and gives you your daily dose of cardio, all without negatively affecting or straining your knees, joints and muscles. Then there are the added frills you would expect of any treadmill in a commercial gym. Things like displays, mixed media and different interfaces are all worth bearing in mind.

Buying a treadmill will provide you with the flexibility to work out on your own time without travelling to other spots. Usually, weight loss results take some time to be visible; hence, you shouldn’t be demotivated from slow results. They also judged each running machine's ease of use by navigating its touchscreens and control panels to find a suitable workout. Each model was then given a score, with only the best earning our Runner’s World Expert Tested seal of approval. It can also be used with third party hardware such as foot-pods and can also be used with a Polar heart rate monitor. Easy-to-set-up and easy-to-use, the JTX Sprint 3 comes with a sturdy and robust, reinforced steel frame. It also has a built-in fan-that does not rumble or get noisy-to cool the treadmill down and prevent it from overheating during your workout session.

How to lubricate a treadmill belt

You simply give a gentle tug and down it comes, nice and slowly and safely. The Sprint 7 weighs in at 85kg and it can hold a maximum user weight of 160kg – this is way above average and makes this one of the most accessible treadmills for users of all weights. There was no wobbling at any speed and the belt provided plenty of bounce (something our long-suffering knees definitely appreciated). Our running stats were clearly displayed on the screen during classes, too. The touchscreen could have been a bit more responsive, sometimes lagging slightly, and you’ll need plenty of space to accommodate this hefty treadmill, but if it’s a realistic running experience you’re after, then this is your best bet. Similarly, no trainer would want to have an additional burden of repairs; the ideal treadmill should last a comfortable five years without requiring repairs every now and then. If you think the same, the JTX Sprint is a good choice. The different speed settings help you maintain your form, and help pace yourself to not just maintain your form, but to improve it over time. Stiff belts are usually lighter than well-cushioned ones; hence, folding the treadmill gets easier. However, having finally overcome the problem in the JTX Sprint 3, my ankles and joints don’t ache anymore after workouts.

When you first receive the JTX Sprint 7 it will come in two boxes and your first task is to assemble the treadmill. Thankfully, this is a fairly simple task and any competent person will likely have this treadmill up and ready for running in around 40-45 minutes. It’s a fantastic all-rounder, well made with plenty of variety, and some really nice technical wizardry at hand. The one thing I’d change about the JTX Fitness Sprint 3 is to reduce the volume of the beeps. These accompany all button presses and grate on your ears after a while, especially if you’re the sort of runner who likes fiddling around fine-tuning your speed during workouts.

The fan wasn’t the most powerful and we found the belt stopped quite abruptly without a countdown, but these are minor niggles. Just bear in mind that this bulky machine is heavy to manoeuvre, and it won’t go unnoticed in the corner of your living room. But if you’ve got the space, it’s a top-notch running companion. The Sportstech F10 is simple, in a good and a bad way. It’s perfect for the casual jogger who needs no frills. For the more experienced runner, or those who like their gadgets fancy and reliable, there are better options on the market.

What we didn’t like about the JTX Sprint 3

There are 43 programmes to choose from including heart rate programmes that automatically adjust the speed and incline based on your heart rate and these are ideal for high intensity fat burning sessions. If you’re in the market for a lighter treadmill, you might consider the JTX Slim-Line, which is great for small spaces and light exercise. If, however, you’re looking for an extremely intense workout and for a treadmill that delivers high- powered performance, the JTX Sprint 5 or 7 are perhaps what you can consider.
