About this deal

Subjects were instructed to brush twice daily using the toothpaste which was given to them. Unstimulated saliva samples were collected before and after brushing and were transported to the laboratory where salivary ALP and salivary ACP levels were determined. The study was conducted over a period of 4 weeks on each subject and saliva samples were obtained at weekly intervals starting from day 1 i.e., on 1 st day, 7 th day, 14 th day, 21 st day and 28 th day. I have been using Vicco Vajradanti Paste for years and it has improved the health of my gums. Highly recommended!' - Farhan Ibrahim, Engineer, 42 It is the same pitch Vicco has been making on TV for years. One of its early commercials featured model Sangeeta Bijlani applying a turmeric paste before her wedding, and keeping up the glow with Vicco’s cream. Its jingle, too, was an earworm: “Twacha ki raksha kare Ayurvedic cream, Vicco turmeric Ayurvedic cream.” From the 1980s, Vicco ads were playing in theatres across India. The company also started producing a weekly show, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, for Doordarshan in 1984. Vicco ads, played during breaks, brought the product to homes. For nearly a decade, Pendharkar recalls, they witnessed a 50% bump in sales every year, crossing the ₹50 crore turnover mark by 1994.

Vicco Vajradanti Toothpaste contains babhul, lavang, and bakul, Babhul works as an astringent on the gums. Vicco toothpaste is made with herbal components and is easy for people to tolerate. It makes teeth white and gums healthy with regular use. Most of the ad films of Vicco Turmeric that one has grown up watching, its vintage touch has been retained and not much has changed over the years, especially its jingle. “This was done so that the new generation could connect with the brand which would lead to a tremendous brand recall. In the case of Vicco Vajradanti where Alia Bhatt is the brand ambassador, the tune of the jingle has been maintained, lyrics have slightly changed, but its nostalgic value has been retained, and we have made it somewhat contemporary.” Feel free to use it,” Pendharkar had told me cheerily then. “I won’t mind even if you quote entire portions from it.” Answer: Vicco Vajradanti Paste is safe for children above 5 years of age. However, parental supervision is recommended during brushing. Read also: BE Saal Baad | “Liril transformed my life completely,” says former Liril girl, Karen Lunel Hishey

The present study employed only second and third year BDS students based on the availability during the actual study period and keeping in mind the future study compliance. The present study incorporated only herbal toothpaste because of increased public interest in the usage of alternative health care, including use of natural or herbal health care products. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 80% of the population in developing countries uses plants and its products as traditional medicine for primary health care. In the developed countries, 25% of the medical drugs are based on herbs and their derivatives [ 12]. Ease of availability, least side effects compared to conventional chemical toothpastes and low cost make the herbal preparations as the key player of all available therapies, especially in rural areas [ 13]. Available scientific literature shows that herbal toothpastes are as effective as conventional toothpastes [ 14, 15]; but there is a dearth of scientific literature showing comparative efficacy of one herbal toothpaste over the other. Hence, only herbal toothpastes have been selected for the present study to assess the efficacy of one over another. Provides protection from 7 dental problems: cavities, gingivitis, plaque, toothache, bad breath and yellow teeth

Vicco's skin products have always been yellow, symbolizing the brand's long-lasting relationship with turmeric and its effects on perfect skin, whilst the logo depicts antiseptic aspects.Dentifrices are the routinely administered oral hygiene aid for cosmetic as well as therapeutic purpose. Widespread and regular use of the dentifrices serves as the most effective tool for prevention and control of oral diseases. The therapeutic effect of dentifrices is to reduce caries incidence, gingivitis, or tooth sensitivity. Dentifrices are marketed as toothpowders, toothpastes, and gels. Among dentifrices, toothpaste is the most common and accessible means of preventive oral health care tool available to Indian population. Available data from scientific literature shows that when used regularly, modern toothpastes can help prevent dental caries and limit the regrowth of dental plaque and gingivitis [ 2, 3]. Folks used to buy videotapes to see movies during those days, and Vicco transmitted its jingles in local dialects on those tapes as well. Indians residing in other countries bought the tapes, hence more people became aware of the brand. Keshav was a disciplinarian, Pendharkar remembers. “We had a 2BHK flat in Dadar then. At 6.30am, ajoba would start singing ‘Uthi uthi gopala’ (a Marathi morning song). Everyone would get up, use the common bathroom within 10 minutes of the other, roll up the mattresses and start working by 8.30am.” All income would be shared, and divided between business and household expenses. Such values, says Pendharkar, made sure the family remained tightly knit. “We now have a 25 BHK house near our factory in Dombivli (in Thane district, neighbouring Mumbai). There are 25 toilets in there but only one kitchen.” The firm opted to use television to reach potential customers. Only Doordarshan was available on television during those days. Gajanan Pendharkar used a distinctive manner of presenting its company. He spoke with the producers of the TV show "Yeh jo Zindagi hai," which led to Vicco's commercial being aired during the show's broadcast.
