Results from CC241 – Fairmile TT – 23/05/2013

Hi All,

Some quick times last night, with ex club member Henry Latimer winning the TT with a time of 21:34.  Conditions were chilly and with a westerly wind, not the best for a late May evening.  Remember next week is the Club 10 Mile Cup, so DPCC members only I’m afraid!

Here is a quick date for your diary – 13/06/2013
Laura and I are planning a post TT social at the Crown in Stadhampton.  The pub serves food up until 9PM, so we plan to dash over to the pub after the race.  If you would like order food, please contact the Crown directly on the week of the event.  I will email out again in the coming weeks.

Abingdon Cycling Festival – Sunday 21st April

Hi All,

This weekend sees the return of the Abingdon Cycling Festival, an opportunity for local riders to take part in sevearl arranged bike rides, an Audax hosted by DPCC, plus soak up the atmospere will some local beers and good food care of the Loose Cannon Brewery and Kings Head and Bell, Abingdon.

Didcot Phoenix Cycling Club will have a stand in the Abingdon Market Place from 09:00 on Sunday, but we are in need of volunteers to help out with the audax as well.

Volunteers required:

Market Place
09:00 – 16:15 (Audax riders likely to leave by 10:00 and return by 15:30)
Mike and Laura will staff the market place, with a small DPCC stand and Audax Sign-On.

Check Point 1: North Leigh
Approx 10:30 -> 12:00 (The Audax requires cyclists to be at the check point between 10:44 and 11:42)
We need 1 volunteer to man this check point for an hour or so. It would be a great cycle out from Didcot, check the Audaxers and return home!

Check Point 2: Longworth Village Hall
Preferably 2 volunteers required for this check point, or more if we split the shift into two.
Someone is required to deliver some cakes and tea/coffee to the village hall and then wait for Audax riders to check in (between 11:28 and 13:23).

Who can help?!

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Halfords Tour Series – Next Tuesday (22nd May)

Hi All,

On Thursday 22nd May, the Halfords Tour Series comes to Oxford.  I’m planning to be in St Giles by 6PM outside the Eagle and Child and will be cycling in from Abingdon.  It would be great for a group to cycle out from Didcot, so if you are willing to lead a ride please let me know –  I will be wearing some Didcot gear, so hopefully you will spot me!

As it will be really busy that evening and possibly difficult to buy food, Laura and I are going to make a large batch of veggie pasta to bring along.  If you would like some food, please email me before next Friday (18th May).

See you there, Mike

Also after the TT myself and Mike would like you all to join us for a pre-wedding drink – we’ll probably try to go to The Red Lion pub in Brightwell, I am sure they will serve you food if you wish but I’m not actually organising anything as I’ve got a bit too much going on at the moment!!!

Anyway, hope lots of you will make the 2 up – its a good social event – and join us afterwards
