The clubs winter training program starts this Thursday at the Brightwell Pavilian. As ever, it’s an indoor turbo training session and all members are welcome. It’s a great chance to maintain fitness throughout the winter and also catch up with other club members!

Next Thursday (28th) is the 2 up time trial on Sires Hill course, so start thinking about finding a partner to drag you round / you drag them round / work together to get a faster time (delete as appropriate!!)
Also after the TT myself and Mike would like you all to join us for a pre-wedding drink – we’ll probably try to go to The Red Lion pub in Brightwell, I am sure they will serve you food if you wish but I’m not actually organising anything as I’ve got a bit too much going on at the moment!!!
Anyway, hope lots of you will make the 2 up – its a good social event – and join us afterwards

Unfortunately the end of our TT season is quickly approaching…”What”, I hear you cry, “the summer has only just started!” Well, to celebrate the end of the season we are holding our annual End of Season Supper at the Red Lion in Cholsey. The pub is booked from 8:30PM immediately after the Cholsey Hill TT on the 18th August.
Venue: The Red Lion at Cholsey
Date: 18th August
Cost: £10 per person (includes tip)
The pub are putting on two menu choices; either pasta or curry. Please send a cheque and your food preference to Ian Middleton by the 11th August. All cheques should made payable to DPCC and sent to the address below:

Message from your Social Secretary 🙂
Next Friday we are planning a social ride out to a local pub. It will be a casual affair with a few steady miles and a central location to meet at the end of it. More details will follow, but please log onto the forum or add comments to this post if you are interested.

Yesterday was the first DPCC TT of the season on a windy Harwell Hilly course. 18 riders turned out and the results will be posted soon. Following the ride, a few of us went along to Q-Tea Rooms for a post race social (tea and cake).

CC243 – Cholsey Hilly
Last night the club met at The Bear in North Moreton for the DPCC Annual Awards evening. Chairman, Ian Middleton, opened the evening with a speech thanking several key members of the club, without whom the club would not function. A particular mention was given to Tom Greystock, who retired this year as the clubs main timekeeper. Tom, with help from Pauline, have been present at hundreds of time trials over the years and have provided a tremendous service to our club. Thanks was also given to Phil Robbins for running the club Cyclocross for the past few years and also to Matt Chambers who has successfully run the club Audax recently.
Ian also thanked the club committee with its new members, providing a fresh start to 2011.
Following a 3 course meal, it was time to introduce John Paul, a member of the Scottish Commonwealth Games team this year and also ex-member of the Didcot Phoenix Cycling Club! John gave an insight full question and answers session and it was great to see how club members go from strength to strength!
Following the talk from John Paul, it was time to give out the 2010 DPCC Awards.
Our awards meal is being held on Saturday 29th January 2011 from 7pm onwards at The Bear in North Moreton.
