Final chance for club 25 champs entry!

another friendly (final) reminder to get your entry sent off for the club championship 25m event out on the A420 piggybacking the Oxonian open event.

Here’s the link to the entry details
http://cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/Default.aspx?&ge514__geka=WMj5FrnM8xg2AtWi73DtcNRTSSCvlJbSPrU1DgEhsgRN3XPpJICCjrifAtxO4Eo6ifpEmAMiLZFPjfsuuBGd1MY72R1gcN0x_yyznDqev7h-ZjWH3tF8tWpIKUH-K1oWL_5fdtzd6X_sPUtV2EtzXA&ge514__gevi=VWJ8v2118AA2zh5XPaD7UQ&gv850__gvac

If you’re like me and haven’t got around to posting off your entry, pop a cheque for £8 and fill in the entry form available for Open events on the CTT website.

I think the general consensus last night at the BO was that I the entry arrives before Tuesday you should be ok.

See you at Fairmile on Thursday.

Ben Owen post to come tonight. Well done to riders(even those who didn’t make it past the roundabout), and massive thanks to all those who helped!

Ben Owen this Thursday night at Stadhampton!

The premier team based TT event in the region returns to the Chalgrove Community School hall HQ this Thursday- that’s the same HQ as last year.

Amended teams are as follows…

A team Phil Brown, Ron Smith, Neil Ashcroft, Pete Tantrum and Alan Alcock. There’s enough wattage there to power the whole of Didcot!

B team Nick Druce, Mike Cooper, Dave Rodger, Duncan O’Reilly and Simon McGowan.

Team fountain and Mark Scanlan are looking after the timing duties. Ian Midds is coordinator, Robert Briggs and Phil Stacey have put theirhands up to help (Robbo is our shadow reserve).

If you can help out- and we really need more helpers to make I a great night- drop Ian, Nick or Dunko a message. We’ll gather out in Chalgrove from about 6.

See you there and bring the silverware back, A Team!

Ludgershall Summer series Road racing Crits

The Army Cycling Union (ACU), has gained access to a closed course in Ludgershall (Andover) and is running Monday night Road Racing. Duncan is intending to head on down and has room for anyone who wants to throw their bike in the back of the Mundano and put up with him for a few hours.

The cat3/4 race starts at 630, so with a bit over an hour travel time, we’d need to leave 5ish for a bit of time to warm up/sign up. Race entry is £10.

Friendly reminder about our Club 25 Mile Championships entry.

Ronny Mac made a great point today that we’ll need to remember to make an entry for the Oxonian 25mile Open on Sunday the 8th at Southmoor.

We’re piggybacking their event for our club champs, but being an Open event, turning up on the morning will leave you dissappointed. So download and fill out and send off an entry form!

Here’s the link for an entry

Please remember entries for Open events usually end 2 weeks before the event date, so make sure you don’t miss out!

and the course details

Let’s see as many PB’s for the 25 champs as the 10!

AND please tell me if I’ve got any of the information in this post wrong- I don’t have my diary to double check the dates, but I think I’m right…

Floyd

Wet Windy Club Run for the Queen’s Jubilee!

A slightly disjointed and depleted club run (due to Floyd Landis getting the start time wrong), saw a group of 2 of Rocket Ron McSklonney Smith and Iain Kent come across the ‘fast’ group of Nick El Presedente Druce, John Paul Senior, John Junior World Sprint Champ Paul Jr and Floyd Landis at the Aston Pottery rendezvous. A nice tea break was followed by a wet windy ride home with a quick stop for Iain to demonstrate his tube changing skills and Landis being made a fool of by JP jr in a sprint for the Sutton Courtenay. It really is humbling to see someone come past twice as fast when you’re at top speed. It was also rather funny to see JP Snr get soaked by the car that over took us during the sprint.
Special Mention goes to Nick who tweaked his bike up with the Union Flag and some traditional kit and a saddle bag you could fit 20 or so rabbits in.
See you next week for 9 at the Broadway. FL

Club 10 Mile Championships Preveiw…

It’s been a mixed season conditions wise so far, but the quick times on Fairmile this week will hopefully hold out for this coming Thursday which would lead to some exciting performances and blistering new PB’s.

Vying for the 10 mile cup will Be Rocket Ron McSklonney-Smith, Neil Ashcroft, Mark Harvey, Pete Tantrum, Nick Druce, Mike Cooper, Ian McMiddleton and Dave Rodger.

The second teir of riders whi will be mixing it up includes Stevie Rowe, Simmo McGowan, Big Neil Morris, Dunca O’Reilly, Andy Harrison, Phil Stacey, Pete Warwich, Robbo Briggs although look for a dark horse from this group for a sneaky top 10.

It should be a hot contest between our TT queens with Laura and Zoe for the ladies TT crown.

Lets cross our fingers and our toes for a not too warm but calm day- the longish range forecast is promising at this stage with showers clearing and the wind dropping.

Helpers who have committed to run the night are Marion Fountain, Phil Brown (who some may remember from his pre-paternal days) and Mark Scanlan so far. We could do with one more volunteer as the start and finish are separated on Southmoor. Many thanks to you guys in advance. It gives me a chance to ride!

Good luck and may you all record your best times ever.

Club TT Fairmile 24.5.12

A bumper roll up of 39 saw some pretty fast conditions at Fairmile on Thursday. There were some great times which is promising the week before the Club 10 champs at Southmoor next week. Ronnie McSklonney Smith was first home for DPCC with his old nemisis from last year’s 10 mile champs Neil Ashcroft 15 seconds behind. Add the triumvurate of Tantrum, Druce and Cooper who interestingly all came in with exactly the same time and we’ve got a battle royale on our hands.

For the second teir who won’t necessarily be battling for the cup, there’s a gaggle of riders all nudging personal bests with Stevie Rowe, Simmo McGowan, Neil Morris, Phil Stacey and even Duncan O’Reilly looking to duck under 24 mins for the first time.

Fantastic new PB for new young club rider Will (I am) Annells on Uncle Pete’s bike, who was quite a proud finish line timekeeper on the night (thanks again Pete).

Train hard and taper well and See you at Southmoor next Thursday!!!
