I just wish this new story was just a thrilling adventure like the previous books, instead of trying so hard to be something more. The three are known as the Godhead and Alexandria is obsessed with releasing the Flare variants to the population. The islanders will have to survive long enough to figure out why they are being targeted, who is friend or foe, and what the Godhead has planned for the future of humanity.

The Remnant Nation has a few moments in it that make it seem very cult like in a lot of ways but the most interesting PoV came from that nation, Mingho. Of the novel, Dashner stated that he wanted to expand the world, but not focus on the main characters of the main Maze Runner trilogy. And I can't tell you anything else that happened after the point of where The Maze Runner series ended either (which is what I was the MOST curious about).The rest of the Glader's descendants are kind of just there and when a few died I couldn't remember why they came on the journey or who they were to any of the characters who survived. Jorge (books2–3, 5) is a pilot for WICKED; he is later assigned by WICKED to work undercover as the leader of a group of Cranks in the Scorch. At this point James Dashner is just utterly desperate to milk the now-expired success of the Maze Runner series for all its worth. J’avoue ne pas avoir accroché avec la suite des romans et j’espérais retrouver ici mon adoration des premiers livres en me disant que 73 ans après et avec de nouveaux héros, il y avait moyen de faire quelque chose de bien… Et ben c’est raté… Je me suis clairement ennuyée pendant la lecture de ce roman et malgré le fait qu’il soit assez court il m’a paru très très long.
