About this deal

Setting the benchmark for the genre, this is a timeless creation and a work of art, adding to the rich and vibrant legacy of Enid Blyton, securing its place on bookshelves for generations to follow. It is the largest tree in the world; so large that the top reaches the clouds, and at the very top the Faraway Tree connects to a magical land.

I started of trying to read it to my kids but they are still learning the kind of patience needed for sitting still and listening to mommy read. Climbing the tree they come across a cast of colorful characters, as they head up into the lands above, lands filled with magic, adventure and wonder. The episode where the children land in Dame Slap's school – which terrified and thrilled me as a wee 'un – is now unrecognisable.Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. It wasn’t only a tree, it was a home for lots of little people and the path to strange adventures far above. There are a few small quibbles I have with some aspects of the book, though not enough to fully dampen my fondness for it. The three children make friends with colourful characters like Moon-Face, Mister Watzisname, Silky, and the Saucepan Man, feasting with them on Pop Biscuits and Google Buns and sliding down the slippery-slip which spirals down inside the trunk.

I was hoping for more substance in this book and it explains why I never remembered anything that happened.I don't need it any more but it would be very useful if someone else is ill'" And the only reason Rick is there in book 2 and Connie in book 3 is because their mothers are really ill and unable to look after them. A sturdy young man, polite and hospitable, greets them welcomingly, and on hearing of their mission, Jack (for it is he), presses magic, mouldy beans into the ground. My only complaint is I remember this seeming longer and them having loads more adventures but I think it would have just taken me longer to get through this book as a kid.

Saucepan takes a dislike to Connie (understandably, she is a rather unpleasant child for most of the book) and maintains a petty, childish low-level feud with her for much of the story. The children explore the Land of Spells, the Land of Goodies, the Land of Dreams, the Land of Topsy-Turvy, and many more. In this novel we are introduced to the lives of a family with 3 young children, Jo, Bessie and Fanny.Over the years, the Faraway Tree stories have been illustrated by various artists including Dorothy Wheeler, Rene Cloke, Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone and Georgina Hargreaves. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St.
