About this deal

It’s rare for me to say I didn’t want a book to end, but this is one of those occasions and could have quite happily read on. Most of what I enjoyed of the book is because of her, and if I didn’t DNF this book, it is all thanks to her. What an amazing debut from this author, I cannot wait for the release so I can purchase a physical copy. She really cares for her clients and spends time ensuring their needs are met with barely a thought for her own.

At times I laughed out loud, at times my heart was filled with love, and at times the serious topics made me want to cry. This is a wonderful story and beautifully written, It’s an extremely easy read and one that you will not want to put down. You are just you, and will take up guilt and responsibility without noticing that they are far too large for you and that they are really things an adult should be wearing. I simply adored Janice - she is pivotal not only to the other sub stories sprinkled throughout but also to the great life lesson in finding your very own story. I liked the differences in the personalities of the people we had in here, it really added another dynamic to the story and made for a more interesting read. From recently widowed Fiona and her son Adam to opera-singing Geordie, the quiet bus driver Euan, and the pretentious Mrs.

My thanks as always to the publisher OMC and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review. To pass the time while she’s scrubbing a toilet, dusting or doing a task that the home owner despises she notices her clients talk and she puts together their stories.Despite telling herself she has no story, Janice teases the reader every now and then, revealing snippets of what is in fact a very real story, one which she has kept hidden for so long, one with which she has punished herself for years. She sees many things as she goes about her work and feels everyone has a story to tell- just one that makes them who they are.

The Keeper of Stories – HarperCollins Publishers UK

Written with empathy and humour, it conveys the author’s love of books and story-telling with aplomb. She is married, but he is a “man of a thousand jobs”, having never stayed in one role for more than a year since they met, and she is tired of his dull and tedious ways.s son is trying to force her out of her home and Janice, having been pushed to the limits of tolerance, ‘has a bit of a turn’ and leaves Mike. Many thanks to the publisher, author and Netgalley for an Advanced Review Copy in exchange for an honest review. Adam, a twelve-year-old who has recently lost his dad to suicide, is heart-breaking, his pain is evident, and he needs to lash out and then learn to live his best life. Janice is a cleaner, ‘an exceptional cleaner’ who, as she goes about her daily life, collects stories, other people’s stories, which she collates in her mind. The author Sally Page’s debut novel, a delight to read and the characters were so different, unique and fascinating.

Mrs YeahYeahYeah, Mr NoNoNotNow, Geordie, the opera singer, Fiona and Adam coming to terms with loss, Carrie-Louise and Mavis whose point scoring is a joy to the eavesdropping reader, the Geography teacher who has never been in a classroom, Mycroft, who you don’t see coming and, possibly most delightful of all, Decius (named after a Roman Emperor), a talking (and swearing) pedigree fox terrier (well, it only takes one look at his face and a little imagination).Your quote from the book “She wants to ask if he’s having an affair, but doesn’t know how to say it without sounding hopeful. I was a little taken aback by it if I am honest as I wasn’t expecting something quite so dark but this little twist did manage to keep the story interesting. She finally learns her value and her own story and can choose to create her own story as she wishes. Many of the ‘stories’ contain similar themes, some sad, but all part of the overall picture of life. B, a shrewd and formidable lady in her 90s, Janice finally meets someone who wants to know her (Janice’s) story and what she’s hiding beneath that effective cleaner façade.
