About this deal

The mix is amazing with layers upon layers; dialogue is clear and natural sounding, being dominated by the frontal array, but having directionality when needed. I don’t care how amazing you thought the sound was before on Blu-ray or even during the theatrical showings, this is superior and just unlike anything you have experienced this film in. Why he remastered his trilogies in 4K, and just in time for the holiday season of a year in which an acute crisis of seeing collided with a chronic resolution fetish to produce a new market for the illusion of reality.

In terms of audio quality, “The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy” comes with some of the most impressive Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound mixes that I have ever heard. Remember that dreaded green-tint that appeared on the Fellowship Blu-ray, a product of the fact that it was created from the original HD master and not a proper remaster? The whispers and whines of the orcs, deep thumps of the Belrog, and arrows whishing by are enhanced by the wide range of Dolby Atmos provided for these editions. Super 35, especially newer, can come with a minimal amount of visible film grain when it’s done correctly.Continuing on with the technical bit, and keeping it a bit separate for the extended editions of those to not become overwhelming, since they all use 2 discs for each film. The set also includes a 64-page booklet that showcases “a collection of costume sketches, photography and production notes” and seven travel poster art cards.

The caves in which we first find Golem have never looked so detailed as they do in 4k HDR, adding levels of depth in the shadows that were not so evident before. The first film, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” in its theatrical cut is using a BD-100 (100 gigabytes) disc, 85. The color range improvement is clearly evident when Gandalf battles the Balrog and the two fall into darkness. But lest fans get too upset, he’s managed to replace much of that literary texture with its equivalent in production design texture and visual splendor (thanks to cinematographer Andew Lesnie).

Finally, regarding video quality, there also seems to be a tiny bit of EE (edge enhancement) that was used on this new 4K master. Presented in 2160p resolution with High Dynamic Range compatible with both Dolby Vision and HDR10, this new 4k Blu-ray edition far surpasses all previous Blu-ray and DVD editions.

You’ll also get to know some other characters in this film that will appear in the other two films in this trilogy. For one thing, the soundstage is absolutely huge, and not just across the front—this is a truly complete and hemispheric sonic environment. Thankfully, a band of loyal companions joins Frodo on his journey, including his friend Samwise (Sean Astin) and a mysterious ranger from the north with a secret of his own (Viggo Mortensen). A Digital Copy of each film of the three films in both the theatrical and extended versions are included, via a physical paper insert with a redemption code, which is compatible with Movies Anywhere. Each one of these mixes earns a perfect 5 rating for audio quality, with enough “oomph” to leave this reviewer extremely pleased. On the audio side of things, Warner’s new 4K UHD release also includes a brand new English Dolby Atmos mix (that’s 7. All stories should be allowed to get blurry in our memories of them, but fantasies most of all, because they’re so close to our dreams. Philippa Boyens is known for her work in both screenwriting and producing, namely on some of Jackson’s later films. Ambient effects are myriad, whether it is the chatter in a pub, the hoot of orcs in the mines, birds or a single chirp of a cricket in Rivendell, there always seems to be something to turn your head.
