The Passengers (1977) – MGM – starring Jean-Louis Trintignant (French film adaptation of Koontz's novel Shattered) Oddkins: A Fable for All Ages is written by Dean Koontz and illustrated by Phil Parks. This is a beautiful tale and Parks' illustrations are gorgeous. This fable begins with the kindly toymaker passing away and his wonderful toys -- Oddkins -- setting out on an adventure across the city in search of the new toymaker's shop, pursued by evil toys (from a previous maker). The formula Koontz ( The Bad Place ) uses here is a familiar one: an overpowering evil stalks an innocent family that remains unaware of the menace until isolated from all help and forced to run for Continue reading » A diabolic killer plays a harrowing game of cat and mouse with a reclusive bartender in Koontz's latest gripping suspense thriller. Billy Wiles, a 30-something bartender and former writer, is Continue reading » Created by Mr. Isaac Bodkins, the old toy maker, the Oddkins are made only for very special children, those who must face something difficult in life and need a true friend. The Oddkins are given to these children to inspire them, help them, and love them as long as the children need them. Only now the toys themselves Amos, the brave stuffed bear; Skippy, the rabbit who dreams of being a superstar; Butterscotch, the gently, floppy eared pup; as well as Burl the elephant; Gibbons; and Patch the cat are the ones in need of help.

Along their journey they learn things about themselves and about life - the importance of friendship, faith, and courage, among other things. Besides The Velveteen Rabbit, this also reminds me The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane with his long journey and the way he comes to understand that he is not the most important thing in the world.
