About this deal

Switching ON and OFF is done by the electronic switches on the side of the flashlight. There is momentary activation (MOMENTARY TURBO) using the MODE switch. Normal Operation While it’s a bit larger than other keychain lights in their stable, for example, the TIKI, it’s still suitably small to carry on a keychain, and the weight is low enough to not really notice it. A note about candela readings in general – being 10cm out at 5m can make such a difference; had I measured 72 lux at 5.1m (10cm difference), then I’d be getting 1872cd, almost the same as my 10m reading. At these lux levels and distances, being out even a small amount can change the numbers quite a bit.

The modes are far more appropriate here than on the T4K due to the size of the light, and the Turbo being limited to 500 lumens keeps things in the realm of “warm but not burning holes in things”. The battery, while relatively small, can still give a decent amount of light out. 45 minutes on high, and 15 on Turbo, is definitely no slouch, and it holds the output pretty steadily until its time is up. I’ve run the TINI2 in High and Medium for runtimes, along with Turbo at great expense to my sanity – organising a button to hold in for a runtime with an elastic band and a bare XHP50.2 is not something I want to do again any time soon! The TINI2 is built in a modular fashion, with a plastic frame as the core of the body, with thin metal casings on either side to complete the look. The anodisation on the metal casings is top-notch as always with Nitecore, and is mostly smooth with an extremely fine texture to it. Nitecore have this pegged as a keychain light, and it definitely fits the bill for that – unless your keyring only has one or two keys on it, the extra weight this adds is fairly negligible. One of the biggest new feature is the OLED display. When you turn it on or switch brightness, the OLED display will show the amount of of lumens, followed a flash of the word “NITECORE” as sort of a loading screen, followed by a constant countdown of the amount of time you can use it until the battery runs out. display is cute but I hate how they waste my time on showing a brand rather than something useful. That’s very disrespectful and I think I will be looking at the displayed information much less than I could because of this.

The OLED display provides information about the current status of the TINI 2 when the light is turned on. It successively shows the brightness level & lumen output, the user mode and the run-time remaining. After the screen goes out it can be reactivated by pressing the mode button. There is also a display demonstration function, but it is for demonstration purposes only and not a reflection of the light status. When in daily mode the light will stay on until you press the power button to turn the light off. To switch between daily and demo mode, simply hold both the power and mode buttons down at the same time until the light flashes once to indicate demo mode or twice to indicate daily mode and the screen will also display the selected mode. The small form factor with 500 lumens burst (MOMENTARY TURBO) output, informative OLED display, and direct access to MOMENTARY TURBO and ULTRA-LOW are all plus points for this flashlight. The built-in battery might seem as a major disadvantage to some but it helps decreases the overall size of the flashlight, when compared with other 14500, 18350 or CR123A flashlights. The operational buttons comprise of a power button and a mode button. The power button turns the TINI 2 on with a short press and then the mode button cycles through ultra-low, low, mid and high with each press. A single press of the power button will turn the light off. The TINI 2 will remember the last used brightness level the next time it is turned on.

Nitecore TINI 2 Ti Titanium Version (TINI2 Ti) 500 Lumen

Pros: The TINI2 is an excellent tiny, lightweight EDC flashlight. It has 5modes and is a super bright keychain flashlight. It is easy to charge using USB-C and has a decent battery life. Has survived over a year of getting bumped around on a keychain. When fully charged: Turbo 15min, High 45min, Mid 2hr 30min, Low 8hr, Ultralow 60hr. It was able to hold a charge for over a month with infrequent use. In DEMO mode (default) the light turns off automatically, within 30 seconds, if there is no operation. The countdown will be indicated on the multifunction display. I say this because, in our current day and age of smartphones, flashlights are slowly becoming an enthusiast's play thing. Unless you are a doomsday prepper preparing for the worst or a survival enthusiast, most normies just default to their smartphone's flashlight feature.RCR123A 16650 18350 18500 18650 21700 26650 AA AAA AceBeam CountyComm CR123a Custom Cyansky Deadwood Deadwood Custom Works fenix fidget First-Light FiTorch Folomov Foursevens Freasy Gears Imalent Jetbeam Klarus Malkoff Maratac Nitecore Nitefox OLIGHT Pen Power Bank prometheus lights Proprietary Battery ReyLight RovyVon Schmidt sofirn Streamlight Sudio Weaponlight Wuben XTAR Archives Mode spacing appears to be progressively brighter to the eye and the modes are well spaced enough to be able to know which mode one is currently in. With that in mind, TLR tend to view mode spacing as battery life indicators (amount of runtime left) rather than the specific output (lumens).
