About this deal

This is confirmed in the cleaning results (up next), where the Triflex had nearly identical deep cleaning results in the mid and max setting.

However, it did not pass the fog test, and there were visible leaks at the exhaust. Cleaning nozzle Easy to empty dustbin: I like the twist to open mechanism for emptying debris. It’s easy to use, and there’s no need to touch the dirt with your fingers. In my opinion, the unsealed result is the most accurate since it has the least number of variables and represents the working suction of a vacuum. Being a Miele brand, there won’t’ be an issue with parts availability, at least for stuff like the filter or battery.

An ingenious 3-in-1 design sets the Miele TriFlex HX1 apart from the competition, but it’s very expensive

It also comes with an extra battery that doubles the run time from 60 minutes (claimed) to 120 minutes. Dustbin design and capacity However, don’t expect third-party manufacturers to see Triflex components since it isn’t as popular as a Dyson. Aside from its struggles with quaker oats, it did well with other types of debris like coffee grounds, sand, and quinoa. In Australia the Miele Triflex HX2 range also includes the Triflex HX2 Performance, Triflex HX2 Racer and Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog Plus. The narrow roller is a factor why it couldn’t resist long strands, plus it does not have any combs to untangle them.

With a removable 2,500mAh, 25.2V lithium-ion battery – which plugs directly into the supplied mains adapter – and a filter you never need to replace, the Miele TriFlex HX1 is a practical beast. Indeed, if you shell out for the top model you also get a pair of batteries for your money, which means you can leave one charging while cleaning with the other, then swap over when the juice runs low. Staying true to its roots, the Triflex utilizes a wide nozzle at around eleven inches – more than an inch broader than other brands. It has the same toolset as the base HX1 but with the handheld electrobrush, Miele’s version of a mini turbo brush. But with suction-only tools, those figures go down considerably to more bearable levels below 80 decibels. Availability of parts The Miele TriFlex HX1 is clearly a high-quality vacuum cleaner. It’s well made, comfortable to use – especially for floor cleaning – it cleans well and battery life is decent. The flexibility of its 3-in-1 design brings something genuinely useful to the table, allowing for more comfortable cleaning that’s easy on the wrist.

Availability of parts

While the handle placement is ideal for cleaning floors, it isn’t in handheld mode since you’ll have to carry most of the weight. Great that there's two batteries, but the runtime is not so great on the more preferred speed settings. Note that the vacuum's 0.5-litre dust container is small. Our upstairs wool carpets are relatively new, so we found that we were having to empty the container at least once between vacuuming that floor and the stairs and ground floor. The dust container also proved a little fiddly to empty; you need to remove the dust canister from the main unit and then twist open the lid to remove the filter and dirt.

The Miele TriFlex HX1 has a quoted battery life of up to 60 minutes with no powered brush heads in low power, and up to 17 minutes in high power mode with the powered brush head attached. Charging from empty takes a quoted four hours. In our tests, in Max mode the HX1 lasted 12mins 11secs and in low power mode it ran for 28mins 11secs; the powered cleaning head was attached and running in both tests. The Miele Triflex HX2 Pro is a premium vacuum cleaner that commands a premium price tag, and isn't available in the US or Australia. It is, however, built to last. Through testing, the Triflex HX2 Pro measured in between 54dB – 58dB for noise, as we slid through the power settings using the floorhead. This is noticeably quieter than the level recorded when using the accessories, which we measuredat between 5dB – 63dB. The expected noise level for a vacuum cleaner is around 70dB, so the Miele Triflex HX2 Pro is less likely to irritate, if noise is important to you. IIn the before and after shots above, you can see, you can see that the passes were clean, and there wasn’t any visible debris left. Deep cleaning results Founded in 1899, Miele is one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium domestic appliances including cookers and ovens, refrigeration products, coffee makers, dishwashers and laundry and floor-care products. The brand launched its first ever cordless vacuum cleaner in February 2020, which set the benchmark for the Triflex HX2 range that has followed. Aside from the increase in power, there's a 0.4kg weight difference - the Triflex HX2 being the lighter of the two - and variations in the attachments that come with the two Miele vacuum cleaner ranges.Enter the serial number for your appliance in the white box. The serial number can be found on the data plate. Please only enter the number after the slash. The floor cleaner here is similar to those seen on Dyson cleaners, in that it automatically detects the floor type and reduces rotational speed on hard floors to save energy and prolong battery life. However, in the Trfle HX2 Pro, this feature is only available on the Eco and Max power settings with the Multi-Floor XXL Electrobrush is fitted. In the box, you'll also find a crevice nozzle, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle. The brush roll is on the slim side with stiff bristles, which is why it didn’t do well with longer hair strands (more on that later).

Self-standing feature: My favorite configuration is the upright mode, where it can stand on its own. It actually got a higher average at the middle setting versus the max setting (92.65%), which is a head-scratcher for me, but regardless, it’s decent for this purpose. But I wouldn’t spend extra for the Cat & Dog model because its handheld ergonomics is less than ideal. The overall score is skewed by its poor performance vacuuming quaker oats. Otherwise, it would have been a higher average. I tested the Miele Triflex HX1 with various debris like quaker oats, quinoa, pet litter, sand, coffee grounds, and hair. This board width enables it to vacuum more debris than a narrower head but at the expense of portability. The Miele TriFlex HX1 doesn’t quite have the cleaning power to dislodge Dyson as king of cordless vacuum cleaners, but its adaptable layout certainly sets it apart from the crowd. You can get two batteries out of the box by purchasing the HX1 Pro, plus an extra charger. Ergonomics and Usability The most ergonomic mode for the Triflex HX1 is its upright configuration. Its handle position is ideal to use as an upright with the motor at the lower end.
