Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Austin Butler plays The King and the legendary Tom Hanks stars as Elvis Presley's manager Colonel Tom Parker in the long-awaited biopic from director Baz Luhrmann. For the week of September 12th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Elvis (2022) on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Elvis comes to town with a great 1080p HD transfer that is beautiful and crisp. The 4K with Dolby Vision option is the better one to go with, but this 1080p image does a good job. The colors pop in true Elvis fashion when he's on stage. His pink suits and cars look amazing and the bright lights of Las Vegas that reign in reds, greens, purples, and everything in between look excellent. The sequences when Elvis is younger give way to a sandier image full of muted greens, blues, and browns. But once Elvis grows up and becomes popular, those colors burst with emotion.

The 40th Anniversary Today (Legacy Edition), the last studio album to be released during the King’s lifetime, contains the entire original album (first released on May 7, 1975) while premiering 10 un-dubbed mixes from the sessions, providing a new intimate listening experience. Today (Legacy Edition) includes a bonus disc of rare and collectible concert performances recorded live during May and June 1975, the period immediately following the original release of the album.

The same goes for hisElvispicture, however, Luhrmann takes an unconventional approach once again to tell this tragic tale of Elvis's life and career. With an out-of-the-world performance from Butler and a weird, yet underwhelming role for Tom Hanks, the pacing and the film's length hinder it from being completely enjoyable. But kudos to Luhrmann for doing something creative and original with this biopic that nobody saw coming - telling the hero's story from the villain's eye line. Presley died one day before he was slated to start a new tour. The 42-year-old singer was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of his Graceland mansion on Aug. 16, 1977. This year marked the 45th anniversary of Presley’s death. Elvishas some great elements to it, mostly Butler's performance and the music selections and sequences that Luhrmann has conjured up under his own beautiful, glitzy, unique style. Unfortunately, it's just too uneven and long to be the ultimate Elvis movie. But of course, with Luhrmann and his wike's costume design, the sets and costumes are simply gorgeous and perfect. The film's incredible cast includes The Visit's Olivia DeJonge as Elvis's wife Priscilla Presley, Top of the Lake's Helen Thomson as the singer's mum Gladys and The Crown's Richard Roxburgh as Elvis' father Vernon.
