Colors in the Bible have a symbolic significance that can remind us of God and His plan of redemption. I had a vision of a large man walking purposefully across my front yard. I'm assuming from his bulk it was a man yet I've no recollection of a face. He was wearing tan clothing wrapped around him. Ideas? In family union, it is great to get a Bible Coloring Game on tablets and phones and race to see who can color the pictures first. Great family time and get together with Lord and God! Make the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim woven into them by a skilled worker. Exodus 26:1

A good example is the palette and colour communications work completed recently for carbon-neutral paint manufacture Graphenstone UK. Helping them identify a micro collection of five colours for health and wellbeing. Their paint has substantial ecological accreditations and awards due to its recycled content and ability to absorb carbon in the atmosphere when applied wet to walls and surfaces. Beyond just the planetary benefits, there are human ones too - less carbon means less harmful VOC’s but matched with colours that we know can calm and restore our emotional needs. From this, a mutual wellbeing interior palette was created. From a deep blue to a restorative dark pink to help with sleep - each of the five shades were chosen specifically to support mental health and wellbeing. Proving colour is an important and powerful tool that can help to lift a mood or calm the senses too. We all know there are various types of blue and some even venture near purple. The blue hue of indigo is found in the King James Version of the Bible’s Old Testament over 40 times. This is a beautiful picture of how even in our darkness (sin) God desires (loves) us and considered us lovely. And it’s when we are married to Him (come into relationship with Him through His son Jesus) that He washes us pure with the blood of Jesus. In „Farben“ von Laura Perryman erfährt man etwas über die Geschichte der Farbe, welche Rolle wer hatte: von Aristoteles über Isaac Newton, bis hin zu Olafur Eliasson. More commonly, however, red is a color of sin or of atonement. Red is always associated with blood, which was used in ritual sacrifices that cleansed people from their sins. Red blood was smeared on the doorposts of the Hebrew’s houses during the final plague inflicted upon Egypt. To our eye darkness is a type of color. It can range in shades but the key element of it is that it’s hard to see. Even the entertainment world has emphasized his coat. In Disney’s Joseph: King of Dreams his coat is elaborate and colorful and let’s not forget Andrew Loyde Weber’s, Joseph and Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Today we spotlight biennial design fairs—a tradition that has seen a steady increase in popularity over recent years. These events serve as a global stage for nations to showcase design and architectural innovation. The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit. In fact orange is so optimistic and uplifting that we should all find ways to use it in our everyday life, even if it is just an orange colored pen that we use.“ For a detailed account of the building of the tabernacle it can be found here:Exodus chapters 25-27 and Exodus Chapter 35-40 Red (Scarlet) When it comes to the color green we automatically think of life and growth. And for good reason. Plants, trees, flowers, and other vegetation is filled with the color green. It’s like the picture painted in Psalm 1…. “planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither” Symbolic Meaning to the Color Green SYMBOLIC MEANINGBegin to pray about the dream and ask God to bring clarity about that color and the object attached to the color. If you sense anything from the Lord jot it down. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Color psychology according to Wikipedia is… Colour is intrinsic to our lives. So intrinsic, so utterly ubiquitous in fact, that it’s easily taken for granted. It’s easy to miss the innumerous shade variations that go on around us everyday when there are so many other things to concentrate on; not least our digital screens. Even for designers and architects, colour is often saved for later down the line, with seemingly more important things being granted greater time and attention within the design process. But that doesn’t lessen the impact that colour has upon us, nor it’s innate involvement in all the things that we design and create. That’s certainly the view of Colour and Material Consultant, Laura Perryman, who I first interviewed in 2019 when her work was largely focused around colour and material trend forecasting and consultancy under the banner of Colour of Saying. It’s safe to say that a lot has happened in life since then, not least in Laura’s; having researched and written what she describes as “The definitive guide to colour in art and design.” The Colour Bible, which was released in late 2021, is a handbook of sorts; a guide to the science and psychology behind colour and an insight into the origins, evolutions and historical usages of a selection of 100 pertinent colours for designers in the 21st Century. And that’s not all Laura’s been up to either. Workshops, an online course, as well as a consultancy project with Graphenestone Paints and the creation of The Circular Colour Report have all come to fruition alongside the book. I caught up with her to find out more about the colourful journey she’s been on and to discover more first hand insights into The Colour Bible.
