About this deal

These foundations offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel. The Ordinary Coverage foundation has a higher percentage of pigment for a more mattified, and higher coverage finish.

Proprietary spreadability system: a unique suspension system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin while keeping them from fading, caking, or collecting in fine lines This shade would suit someone who is between NC25-NC30 in MAC studio fix fluid. It is true to it’s shade in that it does have serious yellow-golden undertones. I’ve swatched it (photos below) once as a general swatch but also on the right over blue veins so you can see the coverage. I personally didn’t think that this foundation was full coverage. It is pigmented but it just doesn’t cover marks and blemishes really well. If you have relatively clear skin though, this would be perfect for you.I have pretty dry and sensitive skin so most foundation just creases very easily. but this serum foundation is just perfect. The unique suspension system used in the formulations allows shades to look so natural on skin that three shades or more will suit most skin tones. The shades can also be mixed at the time of application if desired. The foundation has your standard offering of 30ml worth of product, and an SPF15 protection (it’s not labelled except for those sold in European markets due to regulations in non-European markets). I was very pleased to see that it was silicone free because that is one of those ingredients that I simply cannot use on a regular basis.

For me this foundation is a medium coverage at best. It could probably be worked up to full coverage with a few layers but ain’t nobody got time for that. Woah, that’s actually surprisingly inexpensive for a foundation – even less than drugstore??? I’m allll about dat glow, I like mixing in a liquid highlight with my moisturizer and putting more as an actual highlight, haha. The coverage foundation by The Ordinary has had a lot of hype around it. Full coverage for half of the price? How dare they?? Could it be as good as other high end brands? Time for me to find out!I apply this with a damp sponge and it spreads very beautifully with a medium coverage. Not that I need a very full coverage but for school that's pretty much all you need. The pigments used in this format are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect. These pigments are suspended in our proprietary spreadability system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. Aqua (Water), Coconut Alkanes, Dimethicone, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Caprylyl Methicone, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Glycerin, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Coco Caprylate/Caprate, Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy)silylethyl Dimethicone, Sucrose Laurate, Dipropylene Glycol, Polysilicone-11, Tocopherol, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Hectorite, Dimethicone/ Bis-Isobutyl PPG-20 Crosspolymer, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Chloride, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin. May Contain [+/-]: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Tin Oxide, Aluminum Hydroxide, Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Mica, Triethoxycaprylylsilane. The Ordinary Serum Foundations sold in the European Union offer an SPF 15 claim. This protection is achieved without the use of chemical sunscreens and only through physical protection from Titanium Dioxide. Additionally, no nano-particles are used to achieve this sun protection. These attributes are unique in foundations because it is exceptionally difficult to create a natural, lightweight look and consistent shades when using only non-nano forms of Titanium Dioxide for sun protection without any chemical sunscreen agents. I went along to the Shoreditch flagship store and I was surprised at how relaxed the place was. There weren’t any ‘makeup artists’ on hand to help you colour match and the sales assistants pretty much left you to it. I for one love this experience. The lady behind the counter was actually really helpful in letting us take a mirror outside whilst I was walking around deciding on a colour.
