I have another RP3, running RetroPie, integrated into my RGB setup which has a board on it which lets it output RGBs in 320x240 (240p). This image is extremely close to my actual RGB consoles when played on a CRT monitor. Would it be better to take this signal and throw it to the XRGB-mini Framemeister? I'm assuming the Framemeister will give me a better output - I mostly play MAME on this if it matters. BTW, here's nice little riddle image I've made over my recent study of the Framemeister's component video handling: The OSSC is an awesome 1080p line multiplier, but it’s a bit more complicated to use than the RetroTINK products. While you can simply plug in RGB, Component or VGA signals, the best performance is achieved with custom profiles for each console and some tweaking. You don’t have to tweak it and it’ll work great just as a plug and play solution.

It was only by chance the XRGB-mini Framemeister i could clone from or i needed to buy a IR transmitter to use with LIRC software or buy another remote For some reason since I turned it on yesterday after a longer break from playing the GameCube the Framemeister seems to have issues receiving 576i input - the image frequently drops out or gets distorted every 1-2 seconds, often with the audio dropping out as well. I switched off the auto sync to avoid additional dropouts caused by my HDTV getting a new signal every time and had a game and later on just the main menu running to play with the settings, but whatever I did didn't change anything. Is there a way to configure your Framemeister settings (or any other upscaler for that matter) to play nicely with dithered transparencies? e.g. waterfalls in Sonic, and basically anything on Sega Saturn? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Are the FBX profiles tuned to Limited RGB by default or is it something I have to set manually? Side question, do I need to get an sd card reader for my laptop to update it or can I somehow get the file on my phone (Note9) and use its sd card port?

I've toned down the negative reaction to the new firmware in my OP to be a bit more objective. I let my annoyance of the 'beta-like' problems of the new features sour my review a little too much. Bottom line is it's only a problematic firmware release if you liked to use 5x scale scanlines. I dont understand that. When i was a kid, i always dream about next best graphic game. First the NES and after the SNES. The graphic i saw in Super Mario World was amazing for me. Now today, me and my friends, finally have the graphic we can only dream about in the past. Guspaz I already kinda figured it was something like that, but thanks for the insight. Still, for a finished product, I would like to see something like this in an enclosed casing, that actually also looks like a finished/commercial product and not like a dust magnet. DarthKirby It was intended to show the image quality off the screen; it's not a "video review" but a guide on the standard you can expect, to accompany the written review. It's not the processing, believe me. If you connect your FM to a (PC-)CRT, it behaves just like the image on a native 15khz CRT. Priceless_Spork the main function is to convert the signal from an original console to a higher resolution so that a modern TV can display it properly. HDTVs often do a poor job with the old systems. The upscaling process often produces some control lag, but this box apparently does so in a way that minimizes that. As for scanlines, those are optional, though I'd recommend them. Kafei2006 The OSSC shouldn't really care about the input timing, and it doe support 480i60. As to if your display might support it is another question. To configure the OSSC for a new infrared remote, find a suitable manufacturer code (e.g. from Toshiba, NEC etc.) so that the OSSC's green LED blinks when a remote button is pressed. Now, power cycle the OSSC while holding BTN1 on the OSSC's PCB. A target function name (e.g. "MENU") will then be displayed on the OSCC's LCD screen. Press the corresponding key on the remote control, if the OSSC receives the code correctly you will be prompted to confirm the new code. Press the same key again to confirm, or BTN0 on the OSSC's PCB to go to the previous key. If you press BTN0 when configuring the first key, the default keymaps will be loaded. If…and this is a huge“if” that will be explained below… if your TV is compatible with 240p and has a good scaler, you can get decent performance and no added lag from HD Retrovision’s component video cables. At the moment, they’re only available for the SNES multi-out and Genesis 1 / Genesis 2 AV ports, but that covers SNES, NES (if modded with a multi-out), N64 (if RGB modded), PAL Game Cube (not NTSC), Genesis 1 – 3, Master System and anything modded with a Genesis 2-style port. Please read on for details:

The GBS-Control protect takes a scaler I’d normally never recommend and turns it into a pretty impressive tool with an insane amount of options! You’ll either need to perform a mod yourself, or buy one pre-made, so my recommendation for this is usually one of two scenarios: that is to say, it does appear to be good for what it does, it's just that what it does is so unneeded and a waste unless you want to blow money on it). iceman I can't say anything about their Ps2 cables but when I was looking for a VG cable for my Dreamcast, I found out that the Reputation of their vga cables is not the best.I only like 1080p best on 1080p HDTVs. If you're using a 4K TV, it's better to use 720p profiles, because 240p scales perfectly into 9x with those profiles on a 4K TV. Good call on Herzog Zwei, though - I got that with my Japanese MD in 1990 (the store threw it in cheap with a set of poorly-photocopied English instructions) and it was the game me and my dad played the most. Still hasn't been bettered today, even by AirMech. Fudoh wrote:It's not the processing, believe me. If you connect your FM to a (PC-)CRT, it behaves just like the image on a native 15khz CRT. Hm, I don't know if I'd trust these cables. They seem quite expensive. Also a few things that make me suspicious: Here's a GC RGB cable that claims to use sync-on-luma from S-Video. Thing is, NTSC GCs don't have RGB and PAL GC's don't have S-Video, so I'm a bit skeptical that this cable actually does what they claim. This is unrelated to your PS2 problem, but it makes me suspicious of their offerings in general.
