About this deal

I think it's a shame that the capacity of the eco-mode has been increased, 30 lumens is now the minimum output. For orientation purposes or when you're indoors, this mode is too bright. I would like to have a lower (additional) mode of 5 lumens or even less, with the added advantage that the battery charge would last even longer. A 'shortcut' to activate the turbo mode would be a nice addition. Value for money? Do NOT use the flashlight in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the flashlight or internal battery fails! But for most users, higher output — the medium numbers of about 350 lumens — are the most realistic use case. Where the PD36R PRO Dominates

The PD36R is well built. There’s nothing glaringly bad, and everything works like it should. I like the e-switch cover in particular, as I’m partial to metal switch covers. Thislightwill accumulate a lot of heat while working, resulting in a high temperature of theflashlight shell. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding. I got the following measurements of the center of the beam with my Opple Light Master at 3 meters with the Fenix being on Turbo:When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes toremind youto timely recharge or replace the battery. A: The PD36R is an ultra-compact flashlight with a powerful USB Type-C charging port. Driven by a long-lasting 21700/5000mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, the light emits a max output of 1600 lumens and 283 meters. Dual switches control five output levels and strobe for easy and fast operation. Additional featuresincludebattery level indicator, smart output memory and two-position body clip, allwhich enhance daily usage in outdoor activitiesand tactical applications. A:Open theanti-dust cover to reveal the charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the flashlight. The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged. Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover. The normal charging time is approximately 2.5 hours from depletion to fully charged with an 18 W or higher-power charging adapter. Also above is the light beside my custom engraved TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. Retention and Carry

So, if the price is a major consideration — and let’s be real, it is — that’s a notch in the PD35R column. For Police, Military and general use scenario's, the 5 available brightness levels deliver a diverse range of lighting power, whether for close inspection and reading, general lighting or illuminating a distant subject. For convenience, your last used brightness level is remembered for next time when switching off the light. Open theanti-dust cover to reveal the charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the flashlight.

Fenix PD36R Pro is a stellar example of the performance that can be achieved by the latest breed of compact Fenix flashlights which incorporate Fenix APF (Advanced Pulse Frequency) transmission system. This technology harnesses electronic pulses to transmit the switch signal from the tail cap to the head, in place of less reliable mechanical systems.

Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability. So, for those who value a super-low light with incredible run time, the PD35R would be a top choice. If you plan to mostly use the light at low output for seeing in a tent, for example, the PD35R will give you a lot longer runtime. I’m excited to start this review! I haven’t owned many Fenix flashlights, and the PD36R has drawn my attention since the older PD35 TAC has been many people’s favorite tactical flashlight for the last 3 or 4 years. The PD36R sport a 1600 Lumen Luminus SST40 LED and includes a USB-C connector to charge the included 21700 battery. In my opinion, this flashlight has all the potential to be a great all-rounder. We’ll have to see how it performs. Utilising a Luminus SST-40 LED it offers a maximum output of 1600 lumens on turbo and throw the beam up to 283 metres distance. The switch features a built-in battery indicator that displays the battery status for 3 seconds every time the torch is turned on when using the included battery. A solid green light indicates saturated, flashing green is sufficient, solid red is poor and flashing red is critical. The battery indicator also acts as a low voltage warning light while the torch is in use when using the included battery. Recharging on the PD36R Pro is accomplished via the USB-C port on the side of the light near the head. The port cover is worth mentioning here, it’s very tight fitting, and can be a bit of a challenge to remove despite a small tab to pull on. You have wide access to the port so cable compatibility shouldn’t be an issue here. The light charged via C to C cables and PD chargers without a problem. One thing to note is that you can’t use the light during charging. And here’s the light beside my custom engraved TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats.

Unscrew the light body half a turn or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.Q6. Why does the PD36R Pro downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected? Olight and Fenix manufacture flashlights that use both disposable and rechargeable batteries. The ability to recharge the battery is an attractive prospect to those interested in reducing the long-term costs associated with running flashlights. It also ensures that you’re able to keep your light running as long as you have access to an electrical power source.
