I've also found that the attachments don't quite touch the bottom of the bowl, so if you're planning on using the mixer on small ingredient quantities (such as to whip ½ cup of heavy cream or to beat 2 egg whites) the attachments will miss the ingredients and nothing will happen. I bought the 5.2l little version about 6 months ago with no extra stuff like mincer, etc. Just the stand mixer itself. I was toying with the idea of one day replacing it with KitchenAid (when I can afford one) but am now a bit unsure since the KitchenAid Artisan is only 300W whilst this one is very powerful at 1,500W. Is the low wattage on the KA a problem at all? I have this mixer too, my husband bought it for me last November as a 30th birthday present. Is it bad that he thinks that's an acceptable 30th birthday present, or is it worse that I was delighted!It will sit on all standard counter tops but because of it's height it is better to place it were there are no wall mounted cupboards above so you can easily lift the whisk/beater blade when you have finished mixing. Now each has broken down again but the company is refusing to repair or replace them because they say the warranty applies to the original transaction, not to the item. Thus all three are out of warranty. ive got the AJ 7l stand mixer ... its noisy and basic, but does the job. only can go on high speed for a few minutes at a time according to the manual, as apparently it will burn the motor out if you run it for more than 3 or 4 mins :eek:

The removable splash guard is something I'm extremely thankful for practically every single time I use this mixer. Many mixers don't automatically come with a splash guard and require you to buy one separately if you want it - not with the Andrew James Stand Mixer! I can't even begin to imagine how many times this splash guard has saved me from covering myself in bright red velvet cake batter, dry flour and milk. And because it's removable, the splash guard is super-simple to clean.Our AJ food processors spindle just obliterated at the weekend and I have searched high and low for spares, but seen as though they are in administration, the chances of finding a legit spare is remote.
