About this deal

A 16pin connector is included with the Toughpower GF A3 series to provide powerful and stable performance that enables the PSU to run next-generation GPUs natively. Thermaltake is undoubtedly a highly respected manufacturer of PC hardware, peripherals, and components. And especially so when it comes to their power supply designs. Representing one of the few companies who always seemingly have one eye on the future, however, we have recently seen the release of their brand new ToughPower GF3 series of PSUs. The GF3 1200W is Gold rated by Cybenetics and 80 PLUS, and it also has a Cybenetics Standard noise rating, which shows that this is not a silent operating PSU. A highly aggressive speed profile drives the fluid dynamic bearing fan. The unit’s compact dimensions, with 160mm depth, don’t help the internal airflow. This is why the max operating temperature for continuous full-load operation is restricted at 40°C, while typically, in high-end PSUs is at 50°C. Toughpower GF3 ARGB series is fully compatible with Intel ATX 3.0 Specifications which supports up to 200% power excursion, reaches 70% low load efficiency, and complies with required power supply timing standards.

Opening the box, we see the PSU itself covered in foam, ensuring it survives the delivery in one piece. The modular cables have come in a nice cloth bag for some time now, so this is great to see nothing has changed in that department. To satisfy the increasing demand for the power consumption of graphics cards, the GF A3 Gold Snow series is designed to support NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards and is able to supply the graphics cards in different ways of connection. To satisfy the increasing demand for the power consumption of graphics cards, the GF A3 Gold series is designed to support NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards and is able to supply the graphics cards in different ways of connection. Not a very high opinion of the company. Its easy to build a functional case and support it since its largely just steel/aluminum/plastic, but required parts like power supplies you can't just skimp on QA and CS. Tough power GF3 Snow series saves energy through its high energy efficiency up to 90% and is certified to 80 Plus Gold. The series has been optimized to work with all generations of Intel's processors to achieve maximum energy saving.

For this particular review, however, we’ll be taking a closer look at the 1350W variant (Albeit, for the sake of simplicity, from this point on we’ll just refer to it as the ‘Thermaltake ToughPower GF3’). What Does Thermaltake Have to Say? It’s also great to see Thermaltake keeping up with the latest specifications, as this GF3 ARGB 850w unit utilizes the latest Intel 3.0 ATX specification and PCIe Gen 5.0 GPU power connector. Electrolytic: 3x Nichicon (2-5,000h @ 105°C, HD), 4x Nichicon (4-10,000h @ 105°C, HE), 1x Rubycon (2-10,000h @ 105°C, YXF), 1x Nippon Chemi-Con (4-10,000h @ 105°C, KY), 1x Nippon Chemi-Con (4-10,000h @ 105°C, KYA) All cables are long enough, and the distance between the peripheral connectors is adequate, at 150mm. The number of legacy PCIe connectors is low, and the most important is that they are installed onto two cables only. Nonetheless, the PSU is equipped with a 12+4 pin PCIe connector, able to deliver up to 600W so there is no need to use adapters for powering NVIDIA’s RTX 4000 series graphics cards. Protection Features OCP (Cold @ 26°C)

The fully modular low-profile white cables make cable management easier and more flexible, increasing the tidiness and airflow inside the chassis. Designed with our Smart Zero Fan, the fan will not spin until the load exceeds certain percentage of the power supply, minimizing the fan noise. The Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1200W PSUs offers top performance and it is ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 ready, so it is ideal if you plan to buy an NVIDIA RTX 4090 and combine it with a powerful CPU, an AMD Ryzen 9 7950x or an Intel 13900K. As the power consumption of graphics cards has increased, so has their demand for power. The GF3 Snow series is designed to support NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards, ready to supply the graphics card according to their different ways of connections.
