I read a lot of books on addiction and recovery and I mean I read A LOT of them and thoroughly zipped through this one. It is always easy to judge those who find their way living this path. In reading this first hand account, I find myself understanding the situation better. Honestly, I was expecting this to be a lot worse than it was. I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed certain aspects of this book and at how engaged I was throughout my reading. That being said, there were quite a few points where I wish a theme had been pushed further or I felt like this book didn't have as much emotional impact as it could have had. I only comment on the potential emotional impact because that seems to be a core goal of the book. Now he's a social media personality with millions of followers, and an entrepreneur, marketer, podcaster, YouTuber, and author who hopes to use his voice to shine a light for those whose own lights have grown dim.

Getting caught up in the wrong scene as a teen or young adult can be the beginning of the end for many people, but not all.
