About this deal

Dimming thermostats are specially designed thermostats that work with basking bulbs to recreate the natural light of the sun throughout the day. Over a day, the dimming thermostat will steadily increase the brightness and heat of the basking bulbs until it reaches the heat you have set, at which point it will start to decrease the light and heat until it loses the temperature and then starts brightening again. This recreates basking spots in the wild, minimising confusion and stress on your pet. Why should I buy dimming thermostats? The LED display provides you with a continual readout of both the current temperature and time. The revolutionary power meter continually displays the percentage of power at the heater. A coloured icon flashes to indicate the function that is presently in use. Mat Stat Thermostats are not suitable for Heat Bulbs or Fans or Ceramic Heaters but are ideal for Heat Mats, Reptile Radiators and Reptile Heat Cables rated up to a Max load of 300W. I almost did. Dimming thermostats all allow you to increase and decrease the intensity of basking lamps but they vary in a few key ways. Some dimming thermostats come with analogue controls which must be altered manually while others have a digital screen for you to use. The more advanced dimming thermostats can run several dimming patterns and manage other devices to recreate day-night cycles even more naturally. What should I look for?

Fortunately, I looked a bit harder. Wait – there’s a fuse in the thermostat itself. Perhaps this had blown? Hopefully this post saves you having to replace your thermostat quite so often. Blown vivarium bulb is one thing, but replacing the thermostat when a simple fuse has blown is expensive! There are 3 models of Digital Thermostat available. A Digital Dimming with Day and Night settings with timers and 2 models of On/Off Digital Temperature Thermostats, one with Day and Night and Timer and the other with Timer only function. The Digital dimming thermostat has a separate timed circuit to turn separate heaters, lighting fans or Rain Making Systems or Humidifier Systems on and off twice in any 24 hour period. I have a Habistat pulse proportional thermostat, my heater isn’t working properly, the bulb is red hot however no heat is travelling round the viv like normal. I haven’t moved the censor. Both the On/Off Digital Temperature Thermostats are suitable for most heat sources but are not suitable for Heat Bulbs. Pulse Thermostats are not suitable for Heat Bulbs or Fans but ideal for Heat Mats, Ceramic Heaters, Reptile Radiators and Reptile Heat Cables. We have been trusting and using Habistat thermostats for our own reptiles for decades and cannot recommend them highly enough. Digital Thermostats Have you woken up this morning to discover that your Bearded Dragon vivarium is looking a little duller than usual? Perhaps you’ve come home from work to discover their tank is sitting at room temperature and the basking light is not working. Do you suspect that your vivarium thermostat might be to blame? It features a handy day/night function too, meaning that you can have it drop temperature and light intensity at night, maintaining your reptile's day and night cycle.

Habistat Digital Dimming Thermostats are sensitive scientific instruments and are vulnerable to heater short circuits that can render the thermostat inoperative. If a different bulb works in the vivarium holder then you’re sorted. You’ve found the problem and you can stop looking. Old bulb doesn’t work in new holder but new bulb also doesn’t work NEW DESIGN Habistat Digital Dimming Thermostat with Day and Night and Timers, 600 Watt is the top of the range digital dimming reptile thermostat.Changing a fuse can’t be that hard can it? It shouldn’t be. But the mechanism for the fuse on the Habistat Thermostat is a bit of a nuisance. It’s a strange mechanism. At this point I thought I was going to be 50 quid down for a new thermostat. We’ve got the Habistat HiRange Dimming Thermostat which we bought in July. It’s been great and we much prefer the dimming aspect compared to the on/off thermostat we previously had. But we were disappointed that it had only lasted 6 months.
