If they had the chance, our kids would live on yogurt. They eat at least two yogurts a day, which is fantastic in terms of calcium intake, but not so great when it comes to the amount of sugar they consume. Its works out much cheaper for me to make 1kg of yogurt then buying store bought stuff filled with artificial sweeteners and preservatives. It won't last as long as shop bought stuff as its free from preservatives - although mine will sort of last for about a week. (its usually eaten within 24hrs ) Put yog in your large jar, addthe uht milk up to mark on side of jar, add dried milk powder. Stir and put lid on. You can store in big jar or put in smaller containers it is up to you. I find it keeps about a week too. Add your own flavours, fruit etc as you need to.

I find the EasiYo yoghurt maker an easy way to do this but you can use any insulation method you wish. I was using scant 1 litre of UHT semi skimmed milk and two tablespoons of Tesco Value natural yoghurt straiight in the tub overnight but it was too runny.
