About this deal

Especially when you take into account, again, even from the last time we talked , just how much of yourself you’re trying to put into your work. And when it becomes an unconscious stream of creation – I think if someone’s making money out of it, I’ve got a big problem with that. But I think if they are making… press a button, you can make something look like mine or similar to that style, people do that physically anyway, paint it… so they’re kind of doing it. This is just the shit version. I’ve always been a fan of more traditional mediums, too. But as you said it’s definitely something shifting. It’s nice that so many people have the access to create in a new way, even if it’s not how you or I prefer it. Timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of its first publication in 2000 AD in 1989, this new edition of Pat Mills and Simon Bisley’s groundbreaking and best-selling collection will feature brand new scans – meaning readers will be able to see its fully-painted art in unprecedented new detail. I mean, is it? That’s more up to you to decide, isn’t it, because it’s ultimately yours. It’s something birthed from you.

Simon was still in art school when a friend of his passed along an illo to Pat Mills at Fleetway Comics in the UK. The standard blurb goes something like this: Yeah, yeah, basically. Someone can happily come along to say ‘Bisley’s work is blatantly shit, this is the worst pretentious work I’ve ever seen from Bisley ever blah blah blah’, I go, “Alright” and keep painting.

Rebellion is also delighted to announce the Sláine: The Horned God Anniversary Edition Slipcase. Available exclusively through the 2000 AD webshop and also measuring 355mm by 270mm, this boxset will feature the three books of ‘The Horned God’ in separate hardcovers, housed in a stunning slipcase covered with Celtic motifs and the ’S’ from the original Sláine logo that featured in Pat Mills and artist Angie Kincaid’s first story in 1983. Okay. Good. Brilliant. Anyway, traction these days…I think my prices are more than they used to be. So you just tend to get the guys who specialize.Nominated for "Best Graphic Album: New/First US Publication" Eisner Award, for Judgement on Gotham (with Alan Grant and John Wagner) Simon Bisley is a British comic book artist best known for his 1990s work on ABC Warriors, Lobo and Sláine. The fourth collection of the adventures of Sláine, the Celtic warrior, this one follows his trials and tribulations as, after becoming king of his tribe, he now proposes to gather and unite the tribes of the Earth Goddess under a High King to fight off the twin threats of enemies from the north (the monstrous Fomorians) and the south (the drunes armies lead by the Lord Weird Slough Feg). Slaine is a book of contradictions: it's beautifully crafted, filled with precise artwork of horrors and carnage, and then there are rushed pictures with the character's faces contorted in amusement. It tells an epic tale of conquest and gods and goddesses and there's a horny dwarf that wants to bang the women. It's both a history and a tale already told in destiny, and there are meta-level joke about making the story.

Batman/ Judge Dredd: Judgement on Gotham (with John Wagner and Alan Grant, 1991) ISBN 1-56389-022-4 It just seemed on brand during the conversation. I was like, ‘Oh, have you ever heard of Shit The Dog?’A new edition of one of the most influential graphic novels ever – in incredible detail and at a scale never before seen! Sláine: The Horned God Anniversary Edition is coming in 2024.
