About this deal

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless come in a durable hardshell case –but note that they don't fold up entirely. (Image credit: TechRadar) Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless review: features Mids are a tiny bit recessed. In The Seed by Aurora with the HD 580 Jubilee Aurora's voice is in the foreground. With the Momentum 4, it fights a bit with the low bass notes. But in return I hear bass notes, I can't hear with the HD 580 Jubilee. Sony WF-1000XM5 vs Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 don't have fantastic battery life. But then again, that's to be expected from the true wireless buds space these days when we're dealing with such advanced sound and ANC on the inside.

The year 2022 has been the one of the flagship headphone launch. The likes of Sony, Master & Dynamic, Technics, Bowers & Wilkins have all brought their latest ideas to market, and with the Momentum 4 Wireless, we can add Sennheiser to that list, too. Supported Bluetooth Profiles A2DP, AVRCP, HFP; Bluetooth 5.2 compliant, class 1, 10 mW (max); SBC, AAC, aptX™, aptX adaptive™The battery in the headphones is not replaceable but Sennheiser estimates it will maintain at least 80% of its original capacity after 30,000 hours of listening, which is 27 years of listening three hours a day, meaning it is never likely to need replacing. Continuity in Product Line: Launching the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 could ensure continuity in the product line, helping to meet customer expectations and maintain consistency in the naming scheme. The integrated mic has a fair recording quality. We used an estimated value for LFE as the processing job is recording LFE at -3dB by default, which isn't reflective of its performance. To account for this, we measured LFE at -6dB, as this is the point in the response that we feel is closest to the true LFE. Even though there isn't much bass in the recording quality, it's not as bad as the graph indicates. We are looking into this issue, though. Your voice sounds fairly clear and easy to understand.

The WF-1000XM5 are also 25% smaller and approximately 20% lighter than the WF-1000XM4. This makes them a very light 4.2g per earbud. Another exciting design change here is that the WF-1000XM5 come in four sizes, including what Sony says is an “ultra-small” SS model for smaller ears. This is great news for those with small ear canals, which we pointed out in our review after some first-hand experience. Call quality is decent, although not up to the WH-1000XM5’s levels. Noises were suppressed well and didn’t impact the clarity of my voice; the person on the other end of the line said traffic comes across as slight rumbles. A very good performance, and the type you’d expect from an over-ear pair at this price. Charging time - Approx. 2 hrs for full charge; 5 min charging for up to 4 hrs playtime; Remark: Ambient temperatures >30°C may lead to extended charging times The Momentum 3’s microphone was a downgrade from previous models, including the wired in-line found on the original. Sennheiser remedied this and one’s voice now comes across as more natural and less hollow and distant. I’d like to also point out, when speaking my own voice comes across as more open and less pressurized, if that makes any sense. Again, I didn’t dive too deep into this as I really don’t make many phone calls, though if I had to guess it has to do with Sidetone feature found in the Smart Control app. The M4 is a set of feature-rich headphones. Although the M4 was not quite comfortable for me, I did not spend time to test all the features. I will keep this review short. I will also compare the M4 with my AirPods Pro (Gen 1) since that’s my only Bluetooth earphones in the similar price range. But, as you know, nothing is eternal and last year Sennheiser – due to some financial(?) difficulties – had to split its business and sold the consumer/audiophile section to Sonova – another giant company, that specializes in hearing-aids – while keeping the professional section for itself, aka Neumann and HD-25. Thankfully, the V2 fixed many of those issues – especially the battery one – and kept the great sound offered by the V1. Then came the Momentum True Wireless 3, which gained a more streamlined shell, enhanced battery life, and a better ANC.
