The specially designed looper in the VE-8 sounds great and is ready to support your performance whenever you need it. Just use the dedicated footswitch to lay down a percussive rhythm, chord progression, vocal counterpoint, or whatever you like. You can easily select your guitar, voice, or both for looping via panel buttons or an optional footswitch.However, the vocal processor side of this pedal is INCREDIBLE!! Played for several people last night and everyone was dazzled by the different harmonies you can get. I played for about seven hours yesterday trying the pedal on a variety of songs. I enjoyed the pedal so much I didn't want to stop. Can't wait to hear this through PA. Just received my new Boss VE-8. This pedal is undeniably the best tool for the acoustic guitarist/singer. Plugged into my Fishman Loudbox Artist and was blown away. Likewise, you can also get a good vocal tone with the BOSS VE-8, but I found it to be far less flexible than the other pedals. You can easily throw on reverb, “enhance” (which seems to essentially be compression), and basic vocal correction, which aren’t a bad suite of tools, but if you want to go any further, you have to dig into the advanced settings, which is a huge hassle given the physical knobs and tiny little screen on the VE-8. It’s no where near as easy to tweak the overall tone as it is with the Play Acoustic and Vocalist. That being said, if the standard vocal tone of the VE-8 works for you, then there’s no need to worry about digging into advanced menus, just don’t expect to vary your sound much. In terms of vocal production, we have Enhance and Correct effects to clean and tidy your pitch, tuning and vocal tone. There are fun effects like radio and distortion, too! Harmonies are a big thing here: you get the harmonic information from the chords you strum on your guitar. This informs the unit about your key, scale and notes and gives out harmonies accordingly. It's great because even if you miss the odd note, your harmonies will still be perfectly in tune. This pedal has a good sound but so far I'm not impressed with the effects. Enable it, and you’ll find nice little accents to your harmonies, where certain notes will adapt or resolve. As long as the little accents it adds are notes that you’re going for, it can add a very nice touch to your harmonies.

For my needs there are only 3. And I can't use Doubling with Harmony. I have songs where I want Doubling on the whole song then add HIGH/HIGHER during the Chorus. Can't do it. As a singer, I'd like the vocal part to be more developed and have more tweaking options. I'd like to have more options for the harmonies especially, like gender, response time (for example, the double effect can't be made tighter). There's only certain fixed harmonies you can use and you can't even mix the double effect with another harmony. I mean, you can't get too creative with the vocal effects.
