Retro car radio with USB, DAB, Bluetooth, iPod/iPhone input etc. If you love your 1980s-vintage European car but would like to upgrade its infotainment tech to current-year specs, Blaupunkt has you in mind. The German electronics firm has introduced the Bremen SQR 46 DAB, a new take on the 1986 Bremen SQR 46 that was fitted to many BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Saab, and Porsche models in the mid-’80s. It faithfully reproduces the look of the vintage ’86 Bremen while offering modern features like Digital Audio Broadcasting, Bluetooth capability, and the ability to play music from USB thumb drives and SD memory cards. You can even set the display and button illumination colors to match your car’s interior.AM/FM Tuner: The built-in AM/FM tuner provides manual, seek, scan, and preset tuning. The unit offers 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank; you can store up to 5 radio stations in each bank for a total of 20 radio presets. With Travelstore, you can automatically search for and store the 5 AM or FM stations offering the strongest reception in the current bank. Any previously stored stations in this memory bank are deleted in the process. The scan feature allows you to scan either every receivable station or every stored station of a current AM/FM band. Thanks to Blaupunkt Codem FM RDS tuner and DAB+ digital tuner, the first-class reception remains one of the strengths of the new Bremen Car radio. New are the numerous serial interfaces, including two USB ports, an AUX port and an SDHC slot - even audio streaming via Bluetooth is not a future piece for the returning legend. The radio carries the "Made for iPhone / iPod" and ensures appropriate compatibility. All settings are permanently saved even when disconnected from the battery. An active DAB+ screen antenna is also included. I did not install the DAB antenna as the US does not use the DAB protocol, so there's no point. For Europe residents, the manual suggested the DAB antenna be installed on the windshield along the A-pillar. It just attaches with adhesive to the windshield, which could be a problem if you ever need to replace your windshield after the install.
