About this deal

Mara Rouge ("bitter red", huh?) was a sly and intimidating antagonist, one who was surely inspired by C.S. Lewis' White Witch and Hans Christian Andersen's Snow Queen. I do really wish that the Quarrel of Sword and Bone had lasted longer and that we could've seen more of the mental and spiritual war that Mara Rouge was supposed to wage on Helen, but this is just a small shortcoming in the grand scheme of things. In all innocence, she is handed an orb by a strange woman who bumps into her one frosty evening and illuminates her Trite eyes to another, impossible world taking place around her. This seemingly innocuous incident becomes the catalyst for Zane, a disillusioned Patrolman, to give her his whole attention, especially as the realisation strikes him she is the last Carrier of Truths and therefore requires his protection. These two realistic characters are rich in personality, contrasts and undeniable attraction. Never in my sixteen years of life had I believed in things unseen until that day. I had never created an imaginary friend as a child or believed in ghosts or the work of angels. But on that cold December afternoon, everything I knew went up in a gray cloud of smoke. His struggle to believe was something that hit pretty hard. He kind of reminded me a bit of Thomas in the Bible.

He studied me the way someone might admire a new animal at the zoo; tilting his head in what was either boredom or bland curiosity. After a moment, he raised his hand in what might have been a greeting, but not one I knew. Still though, to be polite, I lifted my hand as well and performed an awkward wave. A hand emerged to pull the scarf down, revealing the distinct face of a girl who looked younger than I’d assumed. Despite her ruggedness, she had a soft mouth. The Chronicles of Narnia meets Harry Potter. This fantastic winter tale is the perfect blend of classic portal fantasy and the magical world co-existing with our own. This magical Christian fantasy adventure totally hits the spot and got everything right. It is a beautiful reminder of what is truly important in life." ( USA Today best-selling author Astrid V. J.) The figure appeared over my sprawled frame in snow-powdered boots with silk laces that gave off the potent scent of sweet spices and pending excuses. He or she was a solid shadow against the sun burning through the yellowish fog overhead.A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" - Nikki Mitchell, author of Nightshade Forest

Helen must find a way out, or she’ll be dragged into the arena to face the crooked Queen head on before a crowd ready to watch her die. However, if I had one complaint about the book, the ONE thing that made me give this book a 3.5 star rating, it was the descriptions. At times, I loved how the author could utterly immerse me into the story. She doesn’t just tell you the MC is drinking a cup of hot chocolate. She describes the hot chocolate in such rich detail that you can practically taste, smell, and see it yourself. This isn’t an exaggeration. I legitimately had to make myself hot chocolate while I read this book.I really want to know what’s going to happen next and what adventures are coming from this author. As I said, I enjoyed reading it but there are some things that made my reading go slow. I have to say the characters are really good and definitely I love them. If you want to give it a try do it, it’s really interesting and entertaining but keep in mind what I just wrote. A Soul as Cold as Frost is the perfect winter read. 🎄 The story will grab you from the very beginning and not let go until you are finished. The world is beautiful and immersive, the characters are delightful and varied, and the underlying themes and symbolism are phenomenal. The story combines allegory and fresh characters with classic winter stories to make a fantasy retelling bursting with truth and light. I actually found myself binge-"reading" this one and just had to re-read it all again right after finishing the first time! I loved Winter. It’s filled with Christmas-y creatures such as dwarves, giant gnomes, reindeer, and ice magic. The world is cool (pun not intended) but that’s only in part due to world building. The author is beyond talented. Her multi-layered, immersive descriptions completely bring this book to life. I could almost feel the bitter cold, taste the richness of the hot chocolate (I literally had to make myself a cup), see the ice magic smash against Jolly Cheat (the resident villain). A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" PDF / EPUB File Name: A_Soul_as_Cold_as_Frost_-_Jennifer_Kropf.pdf, A_Soul_as_Cold_as_Frost_-_Jennifer_Kropf.epub Faith lies at the center of this story, melding fantasy with hints of the first Christmas story is an intriguing and beautiful way.I really liked Helen. I was able to connect and relate to her in different ways, something that I love when reading a book. She’s a lover of books and has a quiet spirit. She feels so ordinary. But her story isn’t ordinary at all. I just really liked her! Antique streetlamps illuminated downtown, prismed in every direction like hovering confetti. Carols blared from the speakers of a newspaper stand whose buzz-like radio sound muddied the familiar melody of Jingle Bells and swallowed most of the other noise in the street. Buildings hosted glassy bouquets of scarlet, green, and gold ornaments, but it was difficult to enjoy the splendour of the season in this bitter flash-freeze. There’s a reason we lean on the sciences. Theories give us ways to cope with things we can’t otherwise explain. Brilliant minds scribe papers and books, journals and lists, all in the name of trying to find the most supported reasons why things happen the way they do. Zane was amazing. I really, really liked him. I feel like I didn’t get to know him quite as much as I wanted to but I’m hopeful I’ll see him in book two.

All the scene were described in a way you could literally understand everything, However, I found it hard to read some chapters because of the amount of information it has; this as a result of how scene were described, I understand that is good to give enough information to understand the location but sometimes I just found it to overwhelming. This is a book you have to really pay attention to and it can be a little heavy because of everything it describes. As I said, I really enjoyed reading it but several times I had to stop doing it because I couldn’t focus or I just didn’t understand some scenes or things that were happening so that was something I do not like. The book although it is for young adult sometimes I felt it was for adults because of the dialogues. Perhaps of that, the book it’s always moving, there is something happening all the time and that made me keep reading it. I do find the story really interesting but I didn’t like that much how some scenes (Not all of them) were described, I think some chapters had too much information and made the story slow.

This item contains adult content

It would definitely be a good winter read since it’s got it’s happening set in winter around Christmastime so it’s freezing cold. There’s also a lot of cozy moments. Talk of hot chocolate and blankets and sweet things. ❤️ I would love to see more of Zane in future books. He was definitely my favorite character. What I Didn’t Like The Lengthy Descriptions (sometimes)
