About this deal

The Seiko SNA411 is on the bigger side of things. The face is 42mm, but if you include the crown you’ll land on 46mm in total. The height is on the smaller side though, with a total of 13mm. The smaller height is a nice combination with the larger diameter of the watch. Above is a great video showing how to do multiplication and division using the Seiko Flightmaster SNA411. As you might expect, it comes with the usual trimmings, including steel construction and sapphire crystal. If you like the feeling of a very heavy watch, at 150 grams, this certainly gives the impression of quality (by association to density). I bought it as my “math watch”, whatever that means. I intended it to be the watch I wear when speccing out and designing my tiny-home builds, or even performing organic chemistry in my fantasy (for now) home laboratory. My mental addition and subtraction skills are excellent, and I’m fast at longhand, but with the Flightmaster on my wrist, I’m an unstoppable math whiz. I’ve only actually needed the slide rule a handful of times, but I can’t express how pleased I was to use it. Now, the flight alarm is a 12-hour alarm that goes off with a beep (much like what you’d expect from a digital watch). There’s no vibration or snooze function like your smartphone, and the alarm is silenced with a push of a button. Slide Rule

The steel bracelet is pretty easy to adjust. It is one of th ose push-pin style bracelets but I had zero issues adjusting the bracelet. You may need a special tool for the push pins to be able to get the pins out. You can always take the watch to your local watch repair place for help. Most Sinn models come fitted with an ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement, which is considered one of the very best movements available, or alternatively the highly regarded Sellita SW500; which is essentially a clone of the former (Sellita used to make movements under contract for ETA). When you think about Seiko, The Seiko Flightmaster SNA411P1 is perhaps not the traditional Seiko watch that first comes to mind. This watch is big, bold, sporty, and rather unique. Regardless, the 200-meter water resistance goes well together with the tool-like personality of the Flightmaster. After taking everything into account, such as design, build quality and price, this watch received a well deserved 8.5/10 from The Watch Blog. What is especially interesting about this watch is that it is, at its core, a professional pilot’s watch, but it still offers a water resistance of 200m, which is standard for many dive watches. Would that mean Seiko has successfully combined the best of both worlds? Perhaps, but either way, this combination is a welcomed one. A bit of water resistance to keep your watch safe at all times is always a good idea. And in theory, a pilot’s watch should be water-resistant in case a pilot has to eject and land in the water. But of course, the likelihood that this would happen is probably close to zero. And we say this because we are living in a time where the closest most dive watches come to water is when the owner wash their hands.

Everything serves a purpose on the watch. The limited space is definitely not wasted on emptiness. Everything has been thought about. It’s definitely not random chaos. For the money, the Seiko SNA411P1 is a fun and unique piece that despite its larger size on paper is rather universal and can be worn for all kinds of occasions. The Seiko SNA411 is a highly functional, impressive looking timepiece. It reminds me of a Breitling style watch but without cost. Overall I’d say it’s quite a nice watch if you like these busier dial designs. Considered by some to be a superior watch to the Brietling Navitimer and available for under half the retail cost, the German ‘Sinn 903’ has a very interesting story behind it. Being battery-powered, it is reliable and very precise. This is of course crucial for a pilot’s watch.

The rotary slide rule on the Seiko SNA411 is more elaborate than other normal slide rules due to many scales on it. As a result, you can use the SNA411 for many calculations. The Seiko Flightmaster SNA411 is an aviation watch that has complete features. It also has a reasonable price and it is considered one of the most budget-friendly aviation watches in the market. It is very easy to use, and the dial is superb in all of its features, it is known as one of the real utility watches. It can also be very helpful for pilots and engineers. While this is really cool, it’s far from affordable for the average Joe like me. As such, I’ve been on the lookout for some Breitling Navitimer alternatives, which offer that same type of look for far less money. If you’re considering saving up for the real thing, one of these options could more than fill the void until that day occurs. The watch also has applied round markers that use Lumibrite for legibility in the dark. The hour, minute, and chronograph hand all have Lumibrite applied to them. Seiko Flightmaster SNA411 Movement and functionsThe top subdial is for minute counter of the chronograph while the left subdial is for showing the running seconds hand.

As Casio watches go, this one is certainly on the large end of the scale, at 45mm. It features a similar tachymeter and triple sub-dial layout to the Navitimer, though isn’t directly a homage. It has a monochromatic look, giving a more understated aesthetic overall, but does retain a sturdy, chunky construction and strong warranty.

The slide-rule is a feature that can perform a great number of mathematical operations, from the basic math problems to unit conversions but it will take you some time and some practice to be able to operate it. The Seiko Flightmaster is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet that combines both brushed and polished elements. Being a chronograph also made the dial busier. The 3 subdials definitely take lots of space at the center of the dial until there is no free space at all. This brand doesn’t have the heritage or recognition of most other Swiss-made brands, so won’t retain its value the same way that rivals might. Although this watch is not the first one to use this concept, Seiko is the company that was able to execute it well on this wristwatch.
