About this deal

The Pioneer vs Traktor discussion is v interesting. I have used CDJ 2000 nxs a lot and I simply don’t find them as intuitive as the traktor system, both Manually and in SYNC mode. As far as the standalone mixer functionality in this: I understand that this mixer will be ‘digital’ as far as the architecture goes?

Can you comment on sound quality please? Especially in comparison to top of the line and digital mixer from Pioneer i.e. DJM-900nxs(2) and some full analog mixers for example made by A&H (e.g. Xone43)? And another final point, trying to be really clever last year, I got a thunderbolt drive by La Cie, these DO NOT work with Rekordbox. They mount to the computer in a different way than USB and so their mount point changes, meaning your playlists will disappear or lose their path. Worth more trouble and really no need to have that kind of speed for audio, now I use it for VJing and Serato I mean I used to have DDJ-SZ (only used it for very short time) and loved it but now I am thinking about getting: DJ’s have been begging for a quality up to date DJ system/Controller which does not require a laptop. LARGE ALUMINIUM JOGS - These large jog wheels are optimised for a perfect scratch response. They have illuminated cue point markers and an accurate countdown for even greater scratch and reverse precision.

Xone:43C (with built in sound card) + two 1200s. This will give me fully analog sound quality with playing vinyls on 1200s as the this mixer is fully analog – although I am still not sure if this is rule of thumb that analog mixer sound better then digital ones. This will also give me the ability to use it in ‘digital DJing’ with Serato DJ so it would be very similar to using DDJ-SZ right? (especially after adding Xone K1 or K2). This will also give me full DVS control which is great. The biggest downside of this is it gives me no taste and the ability to get used to rekordbox ecosystem of club standard’s DJM/CDJ setup AT ALL. When I will start playing in a club with DJM/CDJs the learning curve from this setup that I will have used at home will be steep. Be able to use fully analog setup for maximum best analog sound quality (so analog turntables/1200s, which I am buying anyway, and analog architecture mixer) Does the screen on this XDJ-RX resemble in any way the screen on XDJ-1000/CDJ-2000nxs ? I mean not quality wise but in terms of layout and graphics? I guess my question here is if the screens on these ‘players’ use the same OS. I just would like to know that if I am used to DJ on this and then go to a club where they have CDJ2000nxs (rekordbox compatible) if I feel 100% at home after plugging USB in terms of visual arrangement/system of the screen’s player Considering that along with the DDJ-RZ this is the first of the native controllers for Rekordbox DJ, which itself is only in its first version, Pioneer DJ have done an excellent job, it’s been difficult to find anything wrong with it. Niggles like slow refresh rate on screen changes, small shift button and scroll knob are all forgivable when everything else works so well.

The hardware felt v impressive. Solid. The platters felt great and the mixer felt high quality. I started mixing and learning my way around the unit.Be able to use DVS to control my MP3s on the laptop/screen built into DJ controller (while I slowly build my vinyl records library)
