About this deal

Some Wi-Fi 6E devices may also be limited to 1201Mbps as is the case with an ASUS TUF gaming motherboard I was able to test the network with. To be fair, this is plenty of speed for just about anything, but worth keeping in mind if you need multi-gig speeds, or just want the best. Sure, a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system will work in a wireless configuration — sometimes even quite well if you live in an airy home with lots of open spaces. Most of the time, though, your mileage will vary greatly, and the performance, more often than not, is much lower than your expectations.

The WiFi 6E-enabled ET12 uses a dual-band 4×4 antenna array to provide top-end speeds across the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and a dedicated 4×4 antenna array to 6GHz spectrum. In select markets, it can also access the recently opened 5.9GHz band for premier speeds in this coveted slice of the spectrum. All told, it can provide an aggregate data rate up to 11000Mbps. The XT12 offers a double dose of 5GHz throughput with a 4×4 antenna array devoted to that band and a dual-band antenna to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Dual 2.5G Ethernet ports on both models let you take full advantage of the bandwidth potential of WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E. The good news is, no matter what setup, be it a standalone router, wireless, or wired mesh, the ZenWiFi Pro E12 proved reliable. During my week-long testing, I had no issue with disconnections, both locally and with Internet access. You shouldn’t have to choose between fast WiFi and eye-catching aesthetics. With their sophisticated design, the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 and XT12 will complement the style of your home. Their professional finish, parallel lines, and vertical orientation calls to mind the practical elegance of modern skyscrapers. Transparent material on the top gives an inside look at the omnidirectional antennas beneath. These routers don’t hide what they are. Their unique design uses the right balance of engineering and elegance to announce that these are no ordinary mesh WiFi routers. This has both a 2.5g wan port and a 2.5g lan port, so my computer that has a port that can connect at higher than 1g, is able to. Likely” because I wanted to tread lightly here. The new mesh might work out well without wires if you can place the hardware units close to each other or have a line of sight between them. However, even then, it’s not faster than many cheaper traditional Tri-band systems. The Barnsley Metrodome played host to Tour Card Holder Qualifiers for European Tour events 12 & 13 on Tuesday afternoon, with both qualifiers producing 24 players for each event. The ZenWiFi Pro XT12 is a traditional Tri-band with an additional 5GHz band (the 5GHz-2). So it has 2.4GHz and two 5GHz bands (5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2). On the other hand, as a Wi-Fi 6E device, the Zen Wi-Fi Pro ET12 has a 2.4GHz band, a 5GHz band, and a 6GHz band. The new design aside, on the inside, the ZenWiFI Pro ET12, as a single router, is similar to all other Wi-Fi 6 routers from the company.

The condo is extensively wired with both coaxial and CAT 5 cables that come together in a “command central” wall box array. HOWEVER, I am not techy and cannot set up a wired system myself nor can I get some one in who can any time soon. It’s the second Asus home router I’ve tested with two Multi-Gig ports. (The RT-AX89X has one SFP+ port.) And that’s great! On the downside, considering the router’s large physical size, I wish it had more network ports — most routers have five ports. There’s no USB port, either, which will make fans of router-based mini NAS servers disappointed. Everything you can expect from an Asus AiMesh router, with pre-synced hardware Based on my understanding of your posts, either of the three ASUS ET12, ASUS ET8, and ASUS XT8 should meet my objectives. I’m leaning toward ET8 as it has many features of ET12 including 6E, given there are no new firmware issues since your last review.
