The texture of the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule is quite liquid, but with a markedly viscous, juicily hydrating “slip” to it. There is definitely something hydrating in there besides the centella extract, since skin feels nice and plump after using it. The main function of the Centella Ampoule, however, is definitely to soothe and restore skin barrier balance, plus tone down any inflammation caused by barrier damage or skin concerns such as breakouts.

The Madagascar Centella range from SKIN1004 has some of my all time favourite skincare products – I use the cleanser, toner and cream almost every day. So I was super excited to be able to try the new SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Range. Volume: It comes in two sizes: 30ml (1.01 fl.oz.) and 50ml (1.69 fl.oz.). What I’m reviewing today is not the OG Centella ampoule, but an interesting serum from the Hyalu-Cica line that I’ve been trying out recently. Each of these products contains Centella Asiatica Extract (aka Cica) and Probio-Cica, which is fermented Centella Asiatica, which aims to soothe skin and repair the skin barrier. It also contains panthenol, allantoin and betaine to hydrate, plump, and smooth skin. You can use it in the morning under sunscreen and it doesn’t cause the skin to become oily during the day. I’d say it’s perfect for a minimalist skincare routine. It’s really all about the texture with this one, because I’ve never seen anything quite like it frankly! The Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream surprised me with its gel texture and lovely cooling sensation once applied. This serum contains one of my favorite ingredients: Niacinamide. A great multi-tasker for anti-aging, skin brightening, anti-inflammatory and barrier repair. Niacinamide works great on acne and helps prevent them, too. I don’t use this product daily, but only when my skin is feeling sensitive or I’m having a dermatitis flare up.

Performance of the SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Serum

The Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Essence Toner is a moisturising toner that calms skin and keeps it hydrated. The Probio-Cica in this toner helps to strengthen the skin barrier and is suitable for sensitive skin.

As for the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam: I’ve actually already raved about this foaming cleanser here on my blog before, and it’s really become one of my current favourite second step cleansers. Not only does it use very mild, gently foaming surfactants and is SLS free, it is also enriched with a number of soothing ingredients such as, of course, centella asiatica extract plus eclipta protrata, a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant plant extract. Hyaluronic acid provides hydration while cleansing, and indeed I’ve found this to be a surprisingly non-stripping cleanser.As is to be expected with mineral sunscreens, this does have a slight white cast (which is compounded somewhat by the addition of Centella). However, with makeup over the top, I don’t find the white cast to be too much of an issue. In fact, it’s the beige tint of the Centella that gives the sun cream its redness-reducing properties – cica is the key ingredient in most colour-correcting creams!
