About this deal

On top of that. The side characters of Five, Six, and Seven are amazing too. Especially Five! I have to say that I liked him loads. He is annoying, he is a loud mouth and is insensitive to most things around him, but I did enjoy his arc. Zuerst ist mir die hilfreiche Karte positiv aufgefallen. Diese habe ich während des Lesens zur besseren Orientierung zu Rate gezogen. This is again a series where I'm on the fence as to whether I want it adapted into a film or TV series. I think it would work well, with the fantasy lands and animals, and this underdog hero you root for. But on the flip side, I think most of the genius comes from Aisling's creation and what she's managed to bring out of your imagination, and I'm not convinced anyone could capture that as well as it needs to be. Aisling Fowler mixes in some of my favorite fantasy tropes that I can’t help be drawn to. We have animal companions, in the form of ‘Dog’ the stone guardian of the Hunting Lodge who is let loose as events happen in the book. He is the parent in the story, always being the light of reason and keeping the party in line. And then there is Widge the Squirrel, who is cute as anything, despite my aversion to squirrels.Twelve is training to be a hunter. A warrior that fights alongside her comrades for the good of Ember but she has ulterior motives and is desperate to seek revenge for her family killed by the Cave Clan. Whereas I felt the first one ended quite nicely, this one has a massive cliff-hanger at the end. I'm obviously not going to say what it is, but it really whets the appetite for the next one - even if I have to wait 15 months for it!

I like that they're really a mishmash of friends. They've disliked each other, liked each other, even loved each other, fought and protected. Aisling's given these characters, who have lost their families, a family once again. And it shows that family needn't always be who you're related to. It can be those who support you when you need it. Dafür, dass es Young Fantasy ist , ist es aber schon brutal finde ich, aber nun gut Fantasy mit Weltrettung geht nicht ohne Verluste! One evening, after hearing Five remonstrating that she is a bad apple, she pushes a crate of things near to Five that leads to changing her life forever. The setting was magical, and so richly described. The forest, the mountains, the damp were all so vividly imagined, and drew us in. The world building was amazing.

About Aisling Fowler

A very underwhelming addition to a first book that I wholeheartedly loved. Ah, well. I guess this just wasn't for me. I'm still considering whether to continue with this series. There just wasn't the depth, the complexity, the darkness, or the action that I loved so much in the first book. I really miss the character dynamics that felt so fresh but now feel shoved out of the main focus of the plot. Still, Six and Five's friendship has my heart. Nach wie vor ein bisschen genervt hat mich, dass Seven (die nach wie vor eine Außenseiterrolle hat) stottert und das weder thematisiert, noch erklärt wird und auch keinen Sinn für die Geschichte zu haben scheint.

One should never judge a book by its cover but this cover seems to work very well for its target group: Once my son, age 11, saw the cover in my review he asked me to get him the book once it is translated to German. So this is what we will do 😃. Especially as this book will be perfect for my son even though the main character is a girl. This book is the perfect fantasy novel for middle grade children of all sexes. It's wonderful in every way. The friendship at the core of these adventures is the best. I love their humour, how they grow together and support each other. Six is my personal favourite :3I absolutely loved Fireborn. Such a cinematic journeyin both the literal and emotional sense! Right away ithad the feeling of something that’s going to be huge, and the world Aisling has created is so rich andengaging. I cannot wait to read what happensnext to Phoenix and her friends’ LD Lapinski, author of The Strangeworlds Travel Agency
