I have a custom unit that gives me four wooden vivs, each 120cm x 38cm x 43cm arranged vertically. Apart from the lower unit that has a 150w heater, the rest all have the same heater, and all four provide a hot spot of 33c - 37c depending where you point the dot of the IR laser gun. All four have royals in them, two tend to spend their daytime under their hot hides, the others tend to be at the cool end, but one of those does thermal regulate more so than the one that spends all day at the cool side. She comes out under the cover of darkness, spends an hour or so under the heat and then is very active form 1am onwards... All parcels require a signature upon delivery, meaning that our courier is unable to leave an item without a signature. I am not sure I will be able to successfully mount a ceramic heating unit in a viv that size, especially as the boa is able to reach at least some parts of the top of the viv. I am open to ideas though... I've never used a ceramic unit in this type of enclosure before. I will have the digital thermometer and thermostats sensors buried in the coco next to the hide over the mat with the hide low down in the substrate so it is closer to the heat mat. That will allow the boa to thermoregulate between warm and cooler areas will maintaining a high humidity. Be sure to choose a terrarium that has a built-in heat lamp or heating element to keep the inside of the tank warm. You will also want to get a terrarium with a tight-fitting lid to help keep the inside of the tank dry.

Plexiglass is another type of plastic that’s often used for terrariums. It’s a clear, shatter-resistant material that’s easy to clean. However, plexiglass can scratch easily and it’s not as durable as glass. One downside to mesh terrariums is that they don’t provide as much insulation as other types of tanks. In addition, the mesh can be scratched or damaged easily.
