About this deal

During a very busy year for the Queen, you can enjoy all the silly antics the Queen encounters along the way in this warming adaption! I must confess, I do not tend to look at books that seem to have perhaps politically incorrect titles (I'm not sure this title is not PC but you know what I mean) but when I saw this at an event I was attending I sat and read it, not realising that I had read it previously. Remember to write who it is to and write who it is from. If you are confident in writing your first name you could write your surname too. You could even write a special message inside. The decision of the judges is final and they reserve the right not to award the Prize if, in their opinion, no works entered reach a sufficiently high standard. Judges may call in books if they so wish.

I have always had a penchant for a royalty book so when I saw one with a slightly irreverent title I thought it would be worth a read, even if it is aimed at children. For almost three decades, schoolchildren bombarded Elizabeth II with underpants designed by their own fair hands. A copy was sent to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Kensington Palace, where an aide said it would be “thoroughly enjoyed by each of the children”.

The work must have been first published in the UK and Republic of Ireland between 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023. The King’s Pants follows a similar storyline, offering a selection of pants for every occasion, from edible organic pants to inflatable space-pants. Pupils at Holy Trinity C of E Primary Academy School in Oswestry, Shropshire, who painted bold colours and patterns on white pants and duly sent them to the King to celebrate his coronation, were delighted to receive a royal reply this week.

He wrote his first novel when he was 14, a story about a murder in a school. He sent it to Macmillan who, although they did not accept it, asked to see his next. Nicholas studied painting at the Slade School of Art. During this time he had his first radio play broadcasted by BBC Radio 4. He then completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Last March, Year 2 pupils at Samuel White’s infants school in Hanham, Bristol, were similarly delighted to receive a letter from Windsor Castle stating that the monarch had been pleased to hear from them and thanked them for their designs. Book awards So common did it become that on one such occasion, royal aides made it clear the children should not ask the monarch about her underwear. The work should be a single, illustrated volume, in book form. It can be imaginative or factual e.g. a counting book. An amusing read, this classic includes endearing illustrations throughout, bringing the book to life, with a dazzling renewed front cover in light of the Jubilee.

The King’s Pants, published in April, has proved similarly successful in capturing the imagination. This new adaptation, by permission of Nicholas Allan, will see the same creative team come together including artistic director James Worthington directing and writing the book, Kate Lindsey on lyrics, Justine Lee as choreographer, Jason Burns working on Orchestration, Steve Boyce creating the colourful costumes and David Law as scenic designer.Aimed for readers aged 0-7, it is evident that this book has been created to be loved by children of all ages! Accompanying activities, worksheets and speed sound books can be found here as well as home reading books and free Read Write Inc E-books.
