About this deal

A new style of charging stand is included. Compared to previous stands with a 2 pin power adapter, this has a USB type A male connector. The cable is hardwired into it and measures 43 inches (110cm) long. The footprint of the stand is smaller too with a more rounded shape. Each can use the standard head, but you in turn lose the benefits of the brush head replacement reminder. Low is a welcome option and ideal for when your teeth and gums feel a bit tender or inflamed. It’s good for helping first-time electric toothbrush owners get used to their new brush.

Within the power toothbrush market, it is quite common for the actual selling price to be a bit less than retail. The brush head is also slim, and it’ll come down to personal preference whether you like it or not. We found it more than adequate for cleaning, but we’re used to the small round head of an oscillating toothbrush. If you’re coming from a manual brush this might seem too small at first. Some Sonicare models get close to the sound levels of the Oral-B brushes but this is usually on specific deep clean/power intensive modes. The base of the 3100 is slim and easy to hold, though there’s no rubber grip. That’s worth bearing in mind if hand dexterity or grip is an issue for you. Otherwise, we quite like the design, as it’s easy to man o euvre and not too chunky. There is no whitening or gum care mode. Despite the common misconception that additional modes bring extra benefits, they rarely do. Minimal and clean design looks good and makes the brush easy to clean The 2 minute timer and pacer encourage even brushing of your teeth For example, readers may ask, ‘I am looking at the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300, which is the equivalent from Oral-B?’ Generally speaking, Sonicare brushes have a more clinical look and feel to them. Many of them are a matte white with very mild/soft colour accents on the power buttons and occasionally a rubber grip. Deciding which brand of electric toothbrush is right for you has likely been more confusing and complicated than you originally thought.

vs manual toothbrush for healthier teeth and gums * Individual results may vary * * Data on file * **** based on two periods of two-minute brushings per day on standard mode minute SmarTimer and 30-second QuadPacer guide you to brush for the recommended time in all areas of your mouth to ensure a complete clean. Plus, while you don’t get all the extra brushes or charging glass of the flagship model, it does still come with a handy USB charging case, which makes this a fantastic toothbrush both for home and for travel.Having thoroughly tested both of the ranges, I recommend Oral-B electric toothbrushes, specifically the Oral-B Pro 3 3500, as the best value and overall top choice. Reflecting its budget price point, the 3100 has a slightly less powerful motor than other, more premium Sonicare brushes. It delivers 31,000 brush strokes per minute, which, for comparison, is the same as the sensitive mode on the Spotlight Oral Care Sonic we tested. You might not desire more power and a deeper cleaning, but based on Sonicares data this does make somewhat of a meaningful difference to your oral health.

Overall, research does support the Oral B technology as being better at removing plaque than the Sonicare technology. There are individual studies in favour of each respective company. Both are better than using a manual toothbrush. As you can see, the 1100 is the most affordable. This isn’t too surprising given it has the least features. Key specs – Cleaning modes: 3; Battery type: Li-ion; Accessories included: 2 x brush heads, charging travel case, charger; Battery life (tested): 1hr 33mins; Warranty: 2yrs To be honest, I had the DailyClean’s use of a NiMH battery down as a potential dealbreaker, particularly remembering the old CleanCare+ with its battery that couldn’t hold up for two weeks. Yet the DailyClean Plus went through its stated three weeks worth of brushing, then went on, and on, and on a little more. In fact, it went on for a rather tedious 147 minutes, which should keep you brushing for well over a month.

The 3100 also has an EasyStart mode, which gradually increases the brushing intensity over the first 14 sessions to ease you in. The sensor is running all the time and will activate every time you apply too much force, unless it is disabled.
