About this deal

The property was dirty. Dust and dead flies everywhere. We spoke to the property manager whilst there and they organised for cleaners come after our visit to more thoroughly clean the property. We were however not financially compensated for this. It took us, as a large family, around six hours to clean the property to a standard that we felt we could relax in. We’re not fussy people either. It was very dirty. The barn was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed and set in a country setting and the enclosed garden was great for our Spaniel to roam freely Burglars and drug dealers to get given a clean record and will not have to inform employers about their past crimes under plans to cut reoffending There are three bedrooms here all with zip-and-link beds offering a choice of super king-size double or single beds.

I hate to give Georgette Heyer one star but I really really disliked this book. While the second half was better than the first, the characters were all too awful to make the story enjoyable. They're all selfish, horrible people. Adam is the worst. No doubt he forced himself on numerous village women, made himself charming enough to seduce women of better "breeding." He cares about himself, making others miserable, horses, himself, his past exploits, embarrassing his family and making everyone miserable. He is a thoroughly nasty man and I wished someone would slap him with a sexual harassment lawsuit, but obviously such things didn't exist in the time and place the story takes place. Needless to say, I loathed him. The WiFi didn't work - we rang everyday to ask for it to be fixed and we're promised it would be - no one ever turned up to look at it."The utility room also acts as a room where muddy or wet dogs can cleaned down after a day out walking or on the beach. From here, you can access the sitting room, full of character with a log burner adding to the atmosphere and two reclining sofas offering supreme comfort for everybody to relax together at the end of the day. The interior of this traditional Cornish cottage is quaint. The comfortable sitting-room is furnished with a sofa and two chairs and a cosy electric fire for chillier evenings. There is a lovely spacious kitchen/diner, and the kitchen looks out over the rear patio-area and is very well-equipped to cater for all your holiday needs. Leading off from the kitchen (down a small hallway) you have the family shower-room. Cottage stairs take you up to the first floor, where you will find the light and airy double bedroom and pretty second bedroom, which has two single beds and a child's bed, perfect for those teeny tiny guests, plus a handy cloakroom. Paul and Tracey made us feel very welcome and were nearby if we needed anything but left us to privately enjoy our stay."

The double beds in 2 of the 3 bedrooms are two single mattresses pushed together. Bizarrely they appear to have mixed up the ‘firm’ and ‘soft’ mattresses, and there was one of each in the 2nd & 3rd bedrooms. Ok if the sleeping partners have different preferences for their mattresses, but may require a shuffling of mattresses if both want firm or soft. I don't mind a bleak story. I even prefer a bleak story to a cheesy happy one, but I do mind mind boredom and exaggerated drama. Penhallow is a novel you would not expect Georgette Heyer to have written. It is significantly darker and less witty than her other novels, both her historical ones and her mysteries, and these differences and the novel's tone caused her to part company with both her UK and US publishers, as well as polarizing the opinions of her readers then and since. This is not a good book, but it's fascinating in its terribleness. As a straight novel, it's not awful, but as a mystery it fails on every level, to the point where it becomes almost a manual on how mysteries should not be written. I read in another review that Heyer wrote this book as a "contract breaker" with her publisher, and it certainly makes sense - when you start reading the book as it was written (as a giant literary middle finger to Heyer's publishers) it becomes almost fun to see how she goes to great lengths to write this boring, drawn-out, not-mysterious mystery. She was there for him: Heartbroken Matthew Perry fans pay tribute to his close friendship with Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston who showed him tough love and helped him through addiction anguishI was undecided about my rating for Penhallow, but finally decided to rate based on the fact this is an excellent, but flawed book. It was an eventful week at the Chapel, but the lovely weather, the proximity of the beach and facilities at Perranporth and the access to major A roads meant we did not need to spend that much time in the Chapel and the ongoing irritations could be avoided. That meant the other bedrooms were hot and stuffy as we daren’t leave a window open for fear that the bees might prefer those bedrooms!! Not sure how they resolved that problem as the bee expert was there as we booked out.

In respect to the Hoover and Iron The hoover is a top of the range German Vorwork hoover 4 seasons old and the iron is 3 seasons old Penhallow is a wonderfully modernized three bed-roomed house right by the harbour in St Ives. The house had everything we needed - a fully equipped modern kitchen - very comfortable lounge with wood burner and smart TV. Perfectly adequate Internet access. It has a nice spacious modern bathroom with bath and separate shower. The 3 bedrooms are of good size - two of them having flat screen TVs. The basement bedroom has its own toilet and would be a great room for a couple of teenagers. It was a beautiful house we had an amazing stay the only thing I would suggest is a fan to use with hot weather"The plant at Manhay, in the parish of Wendron in south Cornwall, is expected to generate 5MW of baseload electrical energy and 20 MW of thermal energy. This will provide enough power and heat for more than 11,000 homes. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Trelydarth and that you found it comfortable, clean and well equipped. We are especially glad that you liked the Kitchen/Dining room, it is a great space to share with family and friends. In 1925 she married George Ronald Rougier, a mining engineer. Rougier later became a barrister and he often provided basic plot outlines for her thrillers. Beginning in 1932, Heyer released one romance novel and one thriller each year. Whether you're exploring the Carn Brea trails, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a picnic in one of the local parks, nature is always within reach.

The only word we can use about our stay at Beggars Roost is 'perfect' The property was very clean and is very well equipped." Shani Louk 'was decapitated by Hamas': Heartbreak for family who had hoped for a miracle as Israeli president reveals 'sadistic animals' murdered the young festivalgoer and her skull has been found Heyer is always on shakier ground when she writes in (what was for her) the present day, and here I felt she sometimes relied excessively on painfully long descriptions of rooms as a stand-in for the personality of their occupants. People can on occasion be deftly described by describing one or two of their possessions, but endless catalogs of their belongings amount to hitting the reader over the head with the obvious. Heyer also overexplains some of the characters long after we have grasped their essence. The portrayal of most of the women was a little tiresome to me (nerves and airs and hysteria), but that’s typical of the era. The servants, by contrast, were delicious—rude, uppity, arrogant, impossible to live with or without. Trelydarth is a lovely cottage, Home from Home, plenty of space inside and out, very comfortable, very clean, lots of books which the children enjoyed, lovely welcoming gifts, we could'nt ask for more."We are always delighted to hear that our guests have had a great time. We hope you made lots of fantastic memories. The region is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Carn Brea's trails offer invigorating hikes, while nearby beaches provide opportunities for water sports, sunbathing, and coastal walks.
