About this deal

Really couldn't stand Tim, he caused all sorts of problems for himself and I didn't feel sorry for him one bit. He was a whiny, self-pitying brat.

I might combust from butterflies each time he opens his I start coughing again. "Uh, No. No, George. I'm only seventeen." As if that's the only reason we're not engaged. Ahhh, the bittersweet kiss of disappointment. I really wanted to like this one more than I did. I read My Life Next Door years ago, and LOVED it. I'm not a cotemporary fan, but this book was one of my favorite books ever - contemporary or otherwise. I just read What I Thought Was True last week, despite owning the book for a while. While I didn't love it as much as I loved My Life Next Door, I thought it was great! Huntley's first two novels were awesome. Five stars to the first one, four stars to the second one... three stars to the third one (The Boy Most Likely To). I can't believe I waited this long, only to be disappointed! The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase’s family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself? And to be fair, I thought that Tim sounded like a fairly realistic teenage boy. Though, that probably slightly diminished the swoon factor on his part-just saying. Though, the baby really made the swoonage pretty much non-existant.Hated all the parts where Tim narrated Cal's 'thoughts', I guess it was meant to be cute or something but it was just cringey. Tim is surprised when he learns that Grace is dating, saying that he thought she had confined herself to a vibrator and the shower nozzle since Samantha’s dad left. Tim teases Samantha and his sister about being virgins, and after he finds out Samantha and Jase are dating, he makes several lewd comments about them having sex. Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To find the liquor cabinet blindfolded, need a liver transplant, and drive his car into a house Mom works all the time, Sam is usually alone so one day Jace pulls an Edward Cullen, climbs up to Samantha's balcony and BOOM, Cupid! They fall in love. I'd call it instalove but she's been stalking him for years, so...

Grace disapproves of their new neighbors, and a few months after they move in, she builds a 6-foot wall between their properties. When Samantha learns that Grace hit Mr. Garrett with her car, Grace tells Samantha that a scandal could end her political career and that she is very important to the people of Connecticut. When she’s not working as a waitress or a lifeguard, Samantha baby-sits the younger Garrett kids and becomes close to Jase. Mrs. Garrett asks Samantha and Jase to follow Andy on her first date, and this assignment becomes their first date as well. Jase sneaks over to Samantha’s roof, and Samantha sneaks out of her house to swim with Jase in the Garretts’ pool or in a nearby lake where the two share their first kiss. If I had to pull anything positive from this book, I have to admit that I really liked the ending despite how long it took me to get there. This being said, this book was awesome. I loved it and i can't wait to read more from this author. I still wonder what would I do in Sam's shoes. I am definitely not sure. Five YA novels that inspire author Lauren Morrill". Happy Ever After. 2012-12-12 . Retrieved 2019-05-16.

Samantha pressures Clay and Grace once more to come forward with the truth. Clay responds by threatening to put the Garretts’ hardware store out of business if she doesn’t break up with Jase. Samantha acquiesces, and falls into depression. After talking with Tim, he convinces her to tell Jase what happened to his father. To her surprise, he forgives her. When Clay discovers that Jase knows, he argues that if Grace is charged, Samantha will suffer as well. Grace resolves to talk to the Garretts, and Clay breaks up with her.Alex lives in the same town where her dad lives, which is odd and random. When Bailey moves, she decides not to tell Alex she has moved there. She wants to scope things out, figure out who he is, find him, and determine if they are compatible. They are online, and they get along well with each other. And there is SO much other stuff happening, a lot of it surprising. Alice’s drama with her family is a big focus, as is the ongoing connection with Samantha’s mother, the stress of finances and the day to day craziness of the household. But the bulk of the story belongs to Tim – still very much in recovery and trying to figure what to do with his life when he’s hit with a huge game-changer that tips his whole world upside down. Honestly, I expect that some readers will have an issue with one of the main storylines of this book. It certainly took me by surprise, but I have to say, I liked it and I think it was handled well. I loved the main character, Samantha. There was something about her dreamy way of beeing, about the way she thought about and watched from afar the family next door so opposed to her own, the way she started to feel so loved by some people that she barely knew, the way she needed to live for once after all that watching-other-people-live-their-lives thing she's been doing. Why, thank you book for all these wonderful platitudes. We need to part ways now though, at 35%, but don't worry, I'll compile here every amazing moment we shared together.
