About this deal

That’s about it for the moment. If you’d like to get in touch with me leave a comment in the forum or you can tweet me @Conn_Iggulden. I’ll leave it there for the moment. If you’ve read my books, you know an awful lot about the way I think already. There’s no point overdoing it. Conn delivers an outstanding follow up, and another that is fast paced and a high action fantasy read from beginning to end. His fight scenes are well done, the characters are a ton of fun and made this novel entertaining, and the final battle was incredibly written and exciting. There are a ton of battle sequences in the novel and Conn clearly is not afraid of adding touches of humor into the darker moments of the story. Darien: Empire of Salt uses his considerable writing skills and historical knowledge to venture into a genre he has always considered a personal favourite: Fantasy. As the opening book of a series, this was really good. It sets the stage for what is to come, with an interesting setting and set of characters. For some reason it seemed a little bit too simple, in that the storyline, the number of important characters and the area in which the story takes place are all really limited; but then again, this is only the first book, and it serves its purpose as an introduction and a taste of what is to come. So far, I must say that the series is not quite as good as Iggulden’s Emperor series, but it definitely has the potential for it. Iggulden draws the Greek world convincingly and he is strongest writing battle scenes' THE TIMES on the Golden Age series

Unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed by the ending, I expected a lot more explicit detail. I won't say too much in case I spoil the plot! This is the last book in this series. Here, Julius Caesar has been assassinated and a bloody revenge from a mourning nation is bound to be executed. He was killed by one of his most trusted allies. Currently, the self-appointed Liberatores run for refuge in the senate neglecting the power of Caesar’s adopted son, Octavian. His English was refined at the University of London. For seven years, he was an English teacher at Haydon School where he later became the head of English department. He let go of the teaching career and wrote his first novel, The Gates of Rome.

It focuses on a mighty Mongol conqueror and Genghis Khan tries to unify an entire continent under his rule… A Mongol warrior, surrounded by his sons, brothers and tribesmen came from over the horizon winning each and every battle. His legend together with his ambition grew and ranks of his horsemen swelled.

The political intrigue is set against a number of horrific hand-to-hand combat scenes taking place in various areas of Greece. This marvellous book is the 2nd and last part of the 2-set series about the Greeks, and mainly featuring Athens and Sparta. Storytelling is once ore excellent, all figures come superbly to life in this wonderful Greek tragedy of war and death, while political intrigue, cultural and philosophical influences, and military machinations are greatly described within this amazing tale.
