About this deal

I would add “Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)” by Pink Floyd to the ’79 set since it was a UK Christmas No. CD 2 has more of a post-punk/new wave vibe going on and includes ‘The Sound Of The Suburbs’ from The Members, ‘Babylon’s Burning’ from The Ruts, songs from The Jam, The Clash, The Stranglers, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Sex Pistols and Japan, OMD and the band Eurythmics could have been, The Tourists. Early releases from some of the next decades' most influential artists - Japan, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, and The Tourists featuring Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart - are included, and the disc finishes with soul-inflected dancefloor gold from Shalamar, Edwin Starr, Diana Ross and Cher. engineer: Mark Dearnley, Dave Grinsted ( sound engineer) and Ashley Howe producer: Sally Oldfield assistant mixer: Julian Cooper ( engineer) and John Gallen mixer: Ashley Howe and Sally Oldfield arranger: Sally Oldfield phonographic copyright (℗) by: Bronze Records Ltd.

CD1-3 The Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays erroneously states it is the Album Version (4:16) but is the Single Version with a running time of 3:46. Early releases from some of the next decades’ most influential artists – Japan, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, and The Tourists featuring Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart – are included, and the disc finishes with soul-inflected dancefloor gold from Shalamar, Edwin Starr, Diana Ross and Cher. There’s a number of standard single versions of songs that appear on the recently announced 12″ 70s compilation, including Wings’ ‘Goodnight Tonight’, Cliff Richard’s ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ and The B-52’s ‘Rock Lobster’, but that’s hardly an issue. engineer: Frank Kejmar ( engineer) producer: Barry White arranger: Gene Page and Barry White cover recording of: Just the Way You Are ( Billy Joel song) lyricist and composer: Billy Joel publisher: April Music Inc. was incredibly rich for classic hit singles, and CD2 opens with a breath-taking sequence of punk and new wave classics including ‘The Sound Of The Suburbs’ from The Members, ‘Babylon’s Burning’ from The Ruts along with The Jam, The Clash, The Stranglers, Siouxsie And The Banshees and Sex Pistols. A fabulous run of disco is up next including the synth-driven production of Sparks’ ‘The Number One Song In Heaven’, soulful vocals from Donna Summer, the timeless Chic and Sister Sledge, and Rose Royce’s ‘Is It Love You’re After’ – before the first disc closes with one of the years’ most unexpected hits from Fiddler’s Dram with ‘Daytrip To Bangor’.
