About this deal

Wayne was aware of the famous 1938 radio drama adaptation directed and narrated by Orson Welles, but he wanted to stay close to the original story and set his version in Victorian England. The strings sound deep and striking and the synths a perfect balance; the to-and-fro between each becoming totally anthemic.

In March 2020, Jeff Wayne announced a new tour of The War of the Worlds for 2021 with new technological advances being added to the production. While most of the contributors are relatively unknown, [27] the album includes two versions of a remix of "Dead London" by Apollo 440 and other remixes by house-music pioneer Todd Terry. Links on our site are monetised, it means we can keep our platform free to use, without compromising on impartiality.Wayne thought Hayward was the right singer for "Forever Autumn" and sent him a demo with the invitation to participate, but Hayward was unconvinced. A "virtual" Richard Burton (a large bust of the Journalist onto which was projected an image of a young Burton with a super-imposed actor's mouth and jaw lip synched to the original Burton recordings) performed as The Journalist. But in 2021, which marks a momentous 15 years of live touring, the production is up to 12 trucks, and with it, a host of ingredients and special effects that will challenge and excite the senses. After the William Rowland and Vera May prologue was moved into a pre-show (with the characters performing among the audience rather than on stage), O'Neill appeared in a new prologue as a 33-year-old Wells, opening the show with a speech about 19th century England during the dying moments of 1899.

Wayne said the one that he is asked about the most is the sound of the cylinder unscrewing when the Martians emerge from their spaceship, which he achieved by turning and scraping two kitchen saucepans together that Young then amplified and captured in stereo. As a “standard edition DVD” there’s only minimal special features in the form of interviews with the major cast players; a couple of which have been available online for a while as it is.Whether or not we're paid doesn't change how hot a deal can potentially get - that's only up to hotukdeals members. Burton originally signed on for five days of recording for a maximum of 12 hours for each, but he finished his parts in just one day, except for an additional three-hour session held several months after for what Wayne described as "some repair work". The game's artwork was based on the Michael Trim, Geoff Taylor and Peter Goodfellow illustrations from the original album booklet.

It won two Ivor Novello Awards, including one for Wayne and main lyricist Gary Osborne for Best Instrumental or Popular Orchestral Work. The music is intermixed with re-voiced narration and leitmotifs to carry the story forward via rhyming melodic lyrics that express the feelings of the various characters. The classic story of ruthless alien invaders is reimagined for a new generation in this dazzling sci-fi opera. This leaves a question mark of what's going to happen and the fate of the earth, with the possibility of a second Martian invasion. The tour took place across the UK and the Netherlands, beginning in Sheffield on 27 November 2014 and coming to a close on 16 December 2014 in Amsterdam.

Featured an arched bridge running from the lip of the stage out over the audience, panoramic screens showing 2 hours of CGI footage, a new lighting production, pyrotechnics and special effects, including levitation.

Neeson's breathtaking full-body 3D holographic appearance as George Herbert, The Journalist, seamlessly interacts with the live performers onstage, injecting exciting new ingredients into an already celebrated dynamic.
