About this deal

Inspector Montalbano is sought out by a distraught man who is unable to contact his retired elderly parents. The murder is a puzzle, given that she should not have been in the building while it was being renovated, and the killer should have been easy to find, because of all the blood. The commissioner has no sooner summoned his men to help than the horse disappears: All that remains, the impression of his body on the sand and one of his horseshoes that the commissioner has put in the pocket of his bathrobe. This victim loved her cat and her goldfinch very much, thanks to which the Commissioner finds out what really happened. Montalbano begins to suspect a link between the death of the master builder and his partner's release.

If you love this series, you’ll want to read this article in Crime Reads about the series and its creator, Andrea Camilleri. The new head of Forensics, Antonia Nicoletti (Greta Scarano) joins the investigative team; she's clearly Salvo's peer in terms of competence and independence of spirit. As for our eponymous hero, Inspector Salvo Montalbano, a Raymond Chandler quote that springs to mind: “Men want to be him, women want to be with him. Together with a young man, Giacomo Pellegrino, who helped him in the business, he has left no trace. Montalbano's friend, the elderly school principal Burgio, tells Montalbano that the cave and surrounding land belonged to the family of his school friend, Lillo Rizzitano. The Commissioner is going through an unhappy point in his life, disturbed by the news coming from Genoa, and is even thinking of resigning from the police force. He was let in by Signora Pasquano, who led him through several rooms of the house/apt and finally to a lovely balcony. Having solved the case, the Commissioner will have Pasquale temporarily released to accompany him so he can attend the year-end party and therefore have the opportunity to savour the delicious croquettes made by Adelina. After negotiating a series of red herrings and lies, he realizes that Nicotra’s death and the attack on Piscopo are connected through a group of six construction companies owned by mafia families who are colluding on public construction contracts.

There are various well-known dramatic scenes in which cannoli play a part, the most poignant being in an episode of Sicily’s greatest and grouchiest Inspector Montalbano. The genuine anger at the Salvo Montalbano character for the shabby and out of character treatment of Livia is a testament to how deeply fans have come to be engaged with the show. The reason becomes clear when Montalbano and Livia go to the quarry that had been in his dream, where they make a grim discovery. After a handwriting expert proves the will is false, James is arrested, but declares himself innocent. Catarella is hopelessly committed to solving crossword puzzles and rebus and Montalbano reads a novel by Simenon when he is unexpectedly forced to play the Bruce Willis partin an American movie.Although Camilleri set his books in a fictionalised province of Agrigento, much of the series is filmed in the province of Ragusa. Meanwhile, Lucia Gambardella, a journalist who has been investigating rigged contracts in Vigata for years, tells Montalbano about an attempt on the life of her informant, Saverio Piscopo, to prevent him reporting massive corruption among the various construction companies in the province. Salvo Montalbano is the main character in detective novels written by Italian author Andrea Camilleri.

Given the success of the Andrea Camilleri novels, published by Sellerio ( Palermo), RAI with Palomar [ it], commissioned a television series, in co-operation with Sweden's public service SVT, Sveriges Television, of most of the novels and short stories. Assuredly, rabid Montalbano fans will continue to enjoy both the series reruns and the beautifully written books upon which these stories are based for years to come. Montalbano's offices are in Scicli, as are the offices of Commissioner Bonetti-Alderighi (actually those of the mayor). In the dream his funeral is taking place and that Catarella himself, who is usually entrusted with this funeral communication of the killed dead, is to be announced. He is obsessed with reviewing all the cases he has heard over his career, to make sure he has always been objective in his judgements. The other thread of the story concerns Camastra, a tramp who becomes friendly with Montalbano and Livia. He had always hated his father, his wife and the Pagnozzi's son who took the place which he thought belonged to him and to his mother who instead led a life of hardship. It also noted that Maria Pia Ammirati of RAI Fiction said that, despite the death of author Camilleri and director Sironi, “the fiction is too much loved by the public to end up in oblivion. I haven't read the novels, but if Camilleri himself wrote this action, it feels like a deliberate attack on Montalbano's legacy. Inspector Montalbano's men stage the arrest of the elderly Mafia boss Tanu 'u Greco, who has confided to Montalbano that he wished to take refuge in prison because he was repelled by the violent ways of the new, international Mafia that no longer adheres to the older codes of "the honoured society".

From 19 October to 9 November 2013, the four series nine episodes were broadcast and referred to as Series 3. It turns out that the couples are acquaintances and part of a circle of friends who could all be potential victims. Montalbano receives a visit from Ernesto Sabatello who brings him some films shot for six consecutive years by Sabatello's deceased father, which always depict the same thing: the fixed shot of a wall.Yes, once again you’ll see Montalbano swimming in the blue waters outside his coastal villa and drive through the charming towns nearby. This time Commissioner Montalbano wakes up not the usual Catarella, but an insistent knock on the door. Montalbano continues with his investigation; finds that Kherima had been mixed up in international intrigue with the knowledge of the Italian secret services represented by the figure of Colonel Lohengrin Pera. However, Montalbano discovers that the real murderer is Anna Silch, the one-time mistress of Franco, Elena’s long-dead husband, who is presumed to have killed himself.
