The quality of the video and audio recording was excellent, and the end result was as good as I could have expected from any USB 3. While I’m bummed that we don’t get 4K60fps capture, the card does at least support 4K60 pass-through, meaning console players won’t have to worry about lowering their framerate when playing on stream.I was initially confused as to why I wasn’t hearing game audio being passed through, but the XR1 does have a headphone jack so I plugged in there and was able to hear game audio. Also, they are locked to inferior video formats with worse chroma subsampling and worse visual integrity. The whole setup was flawless, with the only real settings being adjusted on the PlayStation 5 itself rather than in OBS. OBS and other recording and live-streaming apps, such as Streamlabs OBS, vMix, and XSplit, see it as a video capture device (a webcam), as do Skype, Teams, Zoom, and other applications using video output devices.

With Windows 10, the capture card can be used without ever installing the accompanying software package. It's also worth pointing out that using a low-quality cable will also result in on-screen interference.

The encoding system’s GPU does not even particularly matter since we are using CPU-driven x264 encoding.
