About this deal

I think depending on whether you look back at that time fondly or not will depend on how much you enjoy this novel. Harriet and Wyn are the perfect couple – they go together like bread and butter, gin and tonic, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. I did find myself wishing that Harriett would stand up for herself a bit more though and I also felt the issues her friends had hindered the story. And if I am being totally honest, I felt like the ending was not enough payoff for the all the emotional trauma we were all put through. After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week in front of those who know you best 400 pp.

The tension between preserving the past/tradition and moving forward to new experiences is well explored, as well as the extent to which someone should compromise within their relationship. However, this year they are lying through their teeth as they broke up SIX months ago and still haven't told anyone! I'm not going to include this book in my big hype big lie shelf yet because I honestly didn't have many expectations for Happy Place. Overall, 'Beach Read' and 'Book Lovers' are still my reigning favourites of Henry's but this a worthy addition to your romance collection. If it was possible to stop loving you, I would have managed it in that first year of desperately trying to.I tried not to think of her as a doormat even tho she clearly was one bc she was about to become a freaking NEUROSURGEON !

i am constantly overwhelmed with how she can take the most deepest inner emotions of a person and articulate it in a way that is so relatable it makes the reader feel seen. A gorgeous cottage that is a huge part of Harriet and her friends lives where they spent time together whilst growing up and somewhere they come every year to meet up and relieve their younger years.

overall, this book was phenomenal and i absolutely adored it, EH writing is just *chefs kiss* if you’re looking for a romance galore book i’m sorry to say this book isn’t for you, this book explores more about a friend group and their dynamics, growing up and letting go. I also felt nothing, nor empathy, sadness, pity or whatever towards any of these characters or their problems and relationships.
