Last year I read Devious Lies and in my review said it was one of my favorite books but than failed to put it at the top of my list.

From my previous readings, I knew that Huntington wrote dark subjects and it wasn’t surprising that this was a dark and heavy book as well. The whole situation needed a logical closure, not some emo boy meeting her on a roof once a year to make it all better. While reading the second half of the book, I kept thinking that this girl must have taken a few classes from the internet guru on how to bring raging alcoholics and their decadent sons out of depression. Huntington has a special kind of gift that lulls you into comfort before she breaks you wide open with pain. You chase after Charlotte like a crazy maniac to suck information about your brother out of her, but you don't dignify his direct message to you with a single glance/ear?tate stood up for charlie by talking to leah and telling her to stop being a bitch to her sister and charlie showed tate what it's like to unconditionally love someone.

This is the story I’ve been looking for, stories like this remind me why I fell in love with romance in the first place. When Charlie and Tate start hanging out more, the whole book is then spent just of them finishing the manuscript Kellan left, which is another stupid and bizarre part of this. But I could not bring myself to care about the main couple when Kellan and his memory are right there.It has 90 chapters + the prologue and epilogue, and some of those chapters are nothing but inner-thoughts. There’s like, two sex scenes, too many embarrassing moments that I covered with laughter, and love being used as a cure for Charlie.
