About this deal

Every woman the FMC interacted with was somehow fat shaming her, trying to steal the MMC from her, or treating her like shit. then everything goes in a downward spiral when he says that he can't do it and breaks up with her instead. Anyway, Avery just needed therapy and a spa session in the Bahamas for a month, she literally had the dough to do it. While yes, some word choices in the dialogue could’ve been better (ahem, queen), I enjoyed her writing, I really did. They have a perfectly content life, own and run a business together, and have been dating for over 4 years. If you're looking for a contemporary romance book with spice, then this would be the perfect read for you! She slips her tongue into my mouth, and I almost fall back into the familiar comfort of our old routine until I hear something like a wince from behind me. Kay Cove is a contemporary romance author, passionate about crafting stories with sassy heroines, dirty talking MMCs, witty banter, and situations that force flawed characters to grow. I am so in love with his character and thoroughly depressed that I have yet to meet a man even remotely similar to him.

Avery and Finn have instant attraction to each other but are initially just friends, until Avery asks him to be her sex coach in exchange for helping him with branding for his business. It was the easiest thing to read because it was spicy, romantic, funny and relatable, especially for any girlie (or guy) with insecurities.

The fucking moment Avery asked Finn this after Finn admitted to some of his past experience I knew something about a threesome was going to cause a biiiiiig problem. This author is so not a girls girl to the point where this might as well have been written by a man.

Stand and Take a Bow Kay Cove, you did a wonderful job creating this intense, attention-snatching work of fiction. But I thought, OK, get away from that toxic sewer rat and let’s START this self-love journey while having the hottest, filthiest sex imaginable. We get to see her be this strong bad ass business women who is so confident in herself professional life but still struggles with her body image. This reads like self insertion, like it’s everything the author wants for herself which is a massive yikes. Kay Cove loves hiking on snow-capped mountains, blowing raspberries on her sons’ super pudgy baby bellies, and heated debates with her husband about topics such as the difference between turtles and tortoises, Marvel trivia, and most importantly—who misplaced the remote.

Kay created Avery, the FMC, with insecurities that really hit home for me and because of that, I connected so deeply with the story and the FMC. The spice in this book was FANTASTIC and I really liked the MMC, but I had a really hard time connecting with the FMC. I’m a little conflicted with this one as on one hand I loved it but on the other there were certainly parts I didn’t like. The strong presence of communication between the main characters made this book even hotter ( like Finn! Some parts of this book also made me slightly uncomfortable, especially the scene with Avery, Cass and Finn (I won’t spoil it) but it was completely unnecessary in my opinion and the author added it in for shock factor but in reality it actually did more harm than good. After (surviving) a career in HR she became the CEO of a small, but mighty, virtual assistant company, before ultimately deciding to pursue her dream of becoming a published author. Honestly, Kay Cove's writing shined during the spice scenes, she never missed (well, until one fateful scene).
