If the new one has the same problem, exercise the wires going into the connector and the connector itself. I think at some point i will modify the metal plate on the door to accommodate the new switches, they are a little longer but not as wide. The wiring diagram in the service notes shows all 3 switches having 6 pins with the earths on each of the drivers side switches linked in the wiring. Also if someone would be able to give me an explanation into how the driver's side switch comes into the equation that would also be great, as I have no idea how that comes into the circuit.
No I understand it's a double pole switch but at rest it is getting two 12v connections and when the switch is activated it is a neg that is added. IF you connect the windows with 5 as GND and 3,5 as 12v and 6 as illumination then the window roll up will be FAR more complicated because when the ignition is off You will not have a 12v or reliable GND.The switches were damaged last year when the centre console was removed and the contacts and rocker inside were lost.
It will be based on fitting it to a defender but if someone in here gives me a circuit diagram for the disco then I'll include changes for that. At A1 All Cars we are breaking over 200 vehicles at any time and have thousands of parts on the shelf. Used to have an old VW Polo, 6n1, with a switch that externally looked identical as the LandRover ones. Out of the 3 original switches I have 1 good one, 1 temperamental and 1 that I think I duff and after a bit of testing 1 dead passenger window motor . They come apart easily and some careful cleaning of the switch contacts with alcohol or good contact cleaner can bring them back to life.Often the switch panels just need cleaning, I've done two 406 and one 307 and brought them both back to life. Although the six pin seems the obvious choice non of the writing diagrams have a duplicated wire though? The passenger door switch is wired differently as it is connected through the drivers side on - I assume to stop the motor being told to go up and down at the same time? I'm going to be doing a complete tutorial on how to fit a total closure remote alarm system as soon as I've finished writing it. Nothing, the motor would just be powered ++ or -- depending of motion combination > motor stop rotating.
