About this deal

To the author; If you are writing a book about practical methods, then I would stick to that, rathering than enforcing some potentially damaging opinions. There are other chapters that I didn't elaborate on in this review that includes helpful guidelines for decision making, explanation about induction, how to practice hypnobirthing during a cesarean birth, and even a complete packing list for a birth bag—information that is good to know for when it's needed.

Don't get fooled by the title of the book "hypnobirthing", it really doesn't have anything to do with hypnosis. I watched one of Siobhan's one hour webinars (free) and that was a useful sunmary of most of the things which are in the book. Really good information not just about hypnobirthing but also about how a pregnancy works, how your body and muskle work.A positive birth, which is something we all strive for, is a birth experience that leaves a woman feeling empowered rather than traumatised, where the mother's wishes are respected, she is listened to and feels calm, confident, and informed. Siobhan Miller, mother of three boys, is an experienced hypnobirthing coach and founder of The Positive Birth Company, which aims to empower women and their birth partners to create positive birth experiences. Just as I would telling them to speak to my other half and not talk to me, who would surely just pass on what they're asking or saying anyway? However, as promising as the initial birth biology 101 chapters were, Miller's perspective comes off overwhelmingly as anti-hospital propaganda.

I also find the various testimonies about birth experiences shared in this book very inspiring because each person birthed their babies in different circumstances and they all had a positive birth experience with the help of hypnobirthing.Reading the title, I thought this would be about hypnosis, but it's actually about breaking a cycle of fear and trying to create an environment where the mum-to-be can relax and allow her body to work its natural magic. However, as someone with a long-term medical condition who requires giving birth in a hospital and to be induced before 40 weeks, I instead was left feeling incredibly disheartened and quite often, frightened by my lack of "control". The author is so patronising and it’s very apparent what her view point is and what decisions she feels you should make.

In generale però il piglio dell’autrice l’ho trovato molto spesso fastidioso (imho) e ripetitivo fino alla nausea. Remember, the mechanics of how your baby enters the world matter little long-term in comparison to how you felt when your baby came into the world. I seen a video of this girl that did a home birth and she recommended this book for all new time moms or just anyone wanting to have a bit and slight ease of information during pregnancies. As with many things, if you can take the positive bits and ignore the snark, there’s some really great information and guiding principles in here.g. , “anglesia” (not a word) instead of “analgesia”, adding an unnecessary “T” to “also” so it sounds more like “altso”, and one instance of (I assume) “parental” being incorrectly replaced by “paternal”. Information like birth shouldn't be painful in the majority of cases, that Hollywood depictions are dramatic and wrong can be good for mindset but there are parts where, although she doesn't recommend anything outright, strongly suggesting not to induce because the risk of stillborn going for 4/10000 to 6/10000 is still as small risk and it doesn't matter "how a baby makes it into the world as much as how you feel about bringing the baby into the world" presupposes a successful outcome that would result in more dead babies if applied as a policy to everyone giving birth.
