About this deal

The DadPad app is an evidence based app accessible to all fathers living in Solihull and is FREE of charge. Rowena Chilton, Head of Midwifery at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, said: 'It’s fantastic news that DadPad has launched across our maternity services. Although we hope that this DadPad will help you and your family with some of the questions and problems that may arise over the coming weeks, always remember that, if you're unsure about anything to do with your baby’s health, you should contact your midwife, health visitor or GP. Remember, too, that the health visitor service is not only for Mum, but for Dad as well, even if you're not all living together.

From the start, the DadPad® has been working with mums, dads, Health Visitors, Midwives and Public Health Teams to provide the most relevant and accurate information available, and continues to do so. You can give your feedback at any time, but ideally we’d like to hear from you from 3-4 months after the birth of your baby. Cllr Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health said: “I am thrilled that the city council has been able to work with the team at DadPad to launch this fantastic free app in Stoke-on-Trent. Dads living in Barnsley can now benefit from a new app, DadPad, that provides practical advice on how they can support themselves, their partner and their baby, giving their child the best start in life.

Crucially, the app also provides dads with guidance on how to support and seek help (when needed) for their partners and themselves as they adjust to their new roles, and cope with the physical and emotional strains that this can place on individuals and relationships. The DadPad was created by listening to what dads, their partners and professionals asked for in relation to preparing for fatherhood, what to expect and how to care for their baby.

Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the service reopens. For this reason, the app also provides information on key behavioural changes for dad to look out for in both himself and his partner. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has worked with the NHS Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust and DadPad to launch the easy-to-use, freely downloadable resource for new dads and dads-to-be. We are delighted to be able to launch this resource for dads and dads-to-be across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.

I was a bit scared when we found out we were having a baby, obviously happy, but a bit scared and in the beginning I was a bit clueless. Being a parent of a child in neonatal care can come with a lot of other emotions and problems to deal with, and DadPad Neonatal can offer additional help and support. Rowena added: 'Alongside the DadPad app there is a hard copy DadPad Neonatal book that will support dads when their baby is admitted, planned or unplanned, to the neonatal unit.

Emotional health and wellbeing issues can arise during pregnancy and in the period following the birth of a baby in both mum and dad. An exciting new parenting resource is being re-launched across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in 2016. Developed with the NHS and real-life dads, the DadPad gives new dads and dads-to-be the knowledge and practical skills necessary to be able to support themselves and their partner, and give their baby the best start in life. The Dad Pad - covering all the essential information dads told us they need to know and presented in a step-by-step, manual style so it’s easy to follow and understand.DadPad is packed with information to give new fathers guidance on how to develop the confidence and practical skills needed to help look after their babies’ physical and emotional needs. We strongly recommend taking appropriate action to ensure your safety when engaging with any of the organisations, groups, events or services listed. The guide has been developed with the NHS and gives dads the confidence, knowledge and practical skills they need to look after their new born baby. The child development part is my favourite bit, but there’s things in there, like things about mental health, that I didn’t know about and that I didn’t know you needed to know about.
